Haven't seen it posted so here goes. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/writers/ian_thomsen/04/10/weekly.countdown/1.html Second Team G Deron Williams, Utah Jazz G Chris Paul, New Orleans Hornets F Kevin Garnett, Boston Celtics F Tim Duncan, San Antonio Spurs C Yao Ming, Houston Rockets
The voting would beyond being a joke as already is, if Kobe or Lebron wins defense player of the year.
Lebron's defense is pretty good but come on!! He can't "lock anyone down" because he still doesn't understand how to play defense. His effort is there much more than it used to be but he depends solely on his athleticism. It's pretty much impossible for a guy to go from a sub par defender to DPOY over one summer. Lebron is an amazing player but enough is enough with the hype. Why doesn't David Stern just cancel the next 10 seasons and give Lebron all the awards and the Championship to the Cavs.
Is Duncan classified as a C/F or do they change it around? That's the only thing I think that will make the difference between a 2nd or 3rd team All-NBA for Yao. Sad to say though that Yao probably would have earned at least two 1st All-NBAs and maybe even a MVP if it weren't for all those damn injuries. Ah well.
If Chris Paul and Deron Williams are both on the second team, who the hell is the point guard on the first team? Oh let me guess...they just put two shooting guards there. The whole thing is a joke. I think Artest is a bonehead sometimes, but he should be defensive player of the year...or at least in the top 3!
DPOY is pure stats which is a total joke. Howard gets blocks so he must be awesome at defense right? Then the KNICKS put up 105 on his team.
Also I think any coach who has the MVP on their team should never win the Coach of the Year award. Ever.
