So I was out at Hong Kong Market on Bellaire Blvd at Boone Road Sunday afternoon after doing Dim Sum at the Kim Son on the Southwest Freeway.

I'm doing my shopping and I find myself at the beer aisle (imagine that). And there it was...Yangjing Ale, the stuff they hawk at the Big Laptop during Rocket's games. $4.99 a six pack.

So I give it a try while watching football Sunday afternoon.

It's pretty good. very smooth. And it got me nice and toasted....the alcohol % might be a little higher than Coors Lite. There is no "percent volume alcohol" listed on the label, so I don't know for sure.

So there you have it. It was good. Go get you some, but don't drink and drive.

what else did you get at the market?

I live close to the one on Scarsdale, and I love it. I imagine the one you're talking about is bigger.

When I was in college and flat broke, I used to live on Ramen noodles.

Now that I'm doing okay.......but have discovered what REAL Ramen noodles are all about......I'm eating them again.

And where else can I get the stuff to make my favorite Thai soup?

Pole, the one on Bellaire at Boone is much larger and cleaner. It's the only Asian market I go to anymore...it's worth the drive. I also bought some persimmons, a d'anjou pear, some joss sticks, and some frozen dumplings and shumai. They had huge Dungeness crabs on sale for $4.79 a pound.
