http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=ap-rockets-yao hmmm maybe back earlier than expected! what a sigh of relief.
sorry for the double post, but i couldn't help noticing how this came out literally hours before free agency begins...oh Morey!
I hope they replaced his foot with something Bionic, just tired of seeing him go down and our hopes with him.
awesome news. i'd like to hear it from a doctor instead of yao, but still awesome news. of course the rockets could've asked yao to say that in order to attract bosh or amare.
Call me skeptical, but there seems to be an element of get him out of playing for China this summer in his recovery.
I understand your thinking, but didn't he say he was done with China even before the start of the season. I just thought it was something that had already been established since he was getting so banged up from playing ball all year round.
Designed to have maximum impact on the minds of the free agents It is like playing poker with Morey.... Morey: So what will it take to get you to commit to Houston next season? Bosh: Well, I am only willing to come to Houston if Yao is healed, but I haven't heard anything yet. Morey: Well, prepare to be surprised Voila.
That would be huge if he's playing without pain by the time October rolls around. I'm pretty sure the organization is being as conservative as possible bringing him back so at least this sounds like he's a little ahead of schedule. Kudos to Yao for putting so much time and effort into his recovery.
Never take a player's word for it, especially in the summer. He may feel like himself, but he has no way of knowing how far along he is until he's going all out 4 nights a week in real games. Grant Hill always felt 100%...and then rebroke his ankle 2 weeks into the season. And with an injury like this, his foot will NEVER truly be 100% healed. Bone will always be slightly vulnerable to breaking again at a fracture site. I hope for the best, but it is seriously foolish to expect to see a full season dominant Yao sight unseen. Guarded optimism is the word.
