    OFF AND RUNNING

L.A. Clippers Los Angeles Clippers: It’s hard to believe the Clippers started off 4-0 without Elton Brand and Shaun Livingston. They’ve lost their past two games after Cuttino Mobley joined the injury ranks, but they still have to be the surprise team of the league.

The Clippers have a unique array of talent, but I’m still not sure how well it fits together. Their mixture of young and old players reminds me of a bunch of round pegs in square holes.

Sam Cassell would be a better fit for a team trying to make a championship push. Corey Maggette needs to be on a team that is more up-tempo while Brand (once he returns) is more of a slow-down guy. The Clippers will have to make trades to stay in the playoff hunt.

Houston Houston Rockets: This might be the Rockets’ best team since the Hakeem Olajuwon (and Kenny Smith) Era ended. Rick Adelman seems to be the right coach for this group. The Rockets were a slow-down, plodding team the last two years but have now adopted the up-tempo style of their coach.

While Tracy McGrady and Yao Ming are in their prime, it’s important to get them some easy transition baskets. The biggest difference is the difficulty in double teaming the two explosive players in this offense. Mike James also been exceptional in the early going.

Orlando Orlando Magic: I have to change my early opinion of this team. I’ve learned teams sometimes aren’t as bad (or good) as they look on paper.

Dwight Howard has moved up as one of the premier centers in basketball. His combination of strength and quickness makes him too hard to guard. The Magic will be there at the end because of the versatility in their lineup.

Boston Boston Celtics: The Big Three of Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen, and Paul Pierce have been playing BIG, making the Celtics the team to beat in the Eastern Conference. This will be the first time in their respective careers that each of the three won’t see consistent double-teams.

A great rebounder like Garnett will face only one defender on the glass while
great one-on-one players like Allen and Pierce also get to show their individual skills. The Detroit Pistons are Boston’s only serious competition.

Nothing new other than something to read. Almost dont feel like posting it, but he seems pretty high on the rockets.

Kenny "No Jet" Smith trying to put his name in the mix as being the best team. The Rockets championship team were the best in spite of him (other than game 1 vs Orlando). :D

Not to question Kenny's intelligence, but what's up-tempo about this team right now, except for we are 6-1. We are scoring about the same as last year. We do look for fastbreak opptunities, but when we get into faster pace, we usually get into troubles, more TO. Our strength is still slow pace half court, but we do a variety of ways in scoring under RA. Our first chance offense isnt clicking either.

Kenny and Chucky like to sterotype coaches, that's all.

    Hmmm

What Team trying to make a championship push has point guard issues?
    1. San Antonio Spurs?
    2. Phoenix Suns?
    3. Houston Rockets?

Hmm, I think 1. has Parker, and 2. has Nash.

    Hmmm
If you send Steve Francis to the Clippers then he has a FRIEND on the TEAM.

Why is our uptempo offense has a lower scoring average than last season?

The pace is quicker for sure but the shooting is god awful, especially from three-point territory. Plus, the turnovers are killing us still.

and those games that you forgot (or never watched) against the Utah Jazz and the Phoenix Suns or pretty much any Rockets games in the 90s cause you never saw any.

good one. The fact that JVG typically looks miserable doesn't make it a hard sell.

Adelman looks serious, but upbeat, whereas JVG just looks like he came down off of some serious drugs.
