When the Rockets struggle, eyes in Lakerland light up. C Yao Ming wants to stay in Houston and will give the Rockets first crack at keeping him with a long-term contract--if the team is winning and a championship is a possibility. But right now, Yao, SG Tracy McGrady and coach Jeff Van Gundy seem to have no chemistry. If that remains the case, the Lakers plan to make a serious run at Yao in 2006, with hopes of giving SG Kobe Bryant a new inside presence to work with. But Yao would be willing to move only if the Rockets' future does not look promising--he has demonstrated that he cares little about money and contracts, passing up numerous endorsement opportunities. . . .

This will never go away! UGH!

And that is BS that Tmac and Yao dont have chemistry together. They are meshing quite well from what I see. It is the OTHER players that are trying to fit in. The Yao/Tmac pick and roll looks pretty go so far.

The Lakers shouldn't hold their breath.

We would have to seriously make no progress for Yao to want to leave. I think the reason why there is a lack of chemistry is because we are only 12 games into the season. No team is just going to lay down and say well hey since you guys have Tmac and Yao were going to quite. Give them some time to jell together and you will see alot bigger things. Also we need just a little better role players. I dont think Sura will be our savior because thats not what we need. I think we are fine as it is. We just need a little more depth and thats what Sura will bring. Once he starts meshing with everyone else then we could start making a better assesment of this team. Its WAY to early to start pointing fingers and wanting to move people.

Yao does not like the idea of changing teams, I remember him mentioning it in his book 'A Life in Two Worlds.' Players are not traded in China. Once they get on a team, they stay there until they retire. This is the way Yao was raised. He won't do it.

Yao would clog the lane for Kobe too.

as many as it takes to convince the closet GS/LA freaks here that they arent EVER getting Yao.

Yao says he will stay as long as we are contenders?

then we have him....we just made th ebiggest move since drafting Yao to become contenders...and if ther is one thing that the Rockets organization has shown over the years is that they are not afraid to make the move that keeps us contending.

They WILL do whatever is necessary to keep Yao and TMac happy...if that requires getting rid of people that dont work well with the stars..they will do it....if it requires getting another coach cause this one isnt doing the job...they will do it...

Get over it you Cali freaks....Yao is in Houston...adn he will be here for the forseeable future.

Thing would just have to fall apart to an insane degree for Yao to go else where.

I just don't see it happening, with T-Mac and Yao the groundwork is layed out for big time future success

Golden State and Laker fans will always pine for Yao. They know that Kobe can't do it alone. Too bad. Because it was Kobe that made Shaq and Phil leave.

Yao will get less touches in LA than anywhere!

I don't get why the Lakers want Yao. Kobe clearly wants to try and do it himself. Granted Yao is not Shaq, but if they were to get Yao, wouldn't Kobe be unhappy all over again?

Until Yao actually signs a long-term contract with the Rox people are gonna talk about it. There's no denying that Yao would be a good fit on the Lakers team with Kobe Rudy and larger Asian fan base etc.

Kobe will love Yao!! Kobe wants a big man who isn't selfish like him. Yao likes to pass and doesn't care if he scores 10pts a game. Yao is EXACTLY what Kobe wanted in Shaq. But Shaq loves to score too much and wanted to be #1!! Yao is happy to be #2. :D

I disagree that Yao and T-Mac have no chemistry. Both Yao and T-Mac are very much alike in personality. Both are laid back and don't show much emotion. Yao and T-Mac work fine together. I hope the 2 of them rise up against Van Grumpy. :D

The deciding factor is the psychotic monster Van Grumpy.

Will Yao stay in Houston to be endlessly tortured mentally and physically by Van Grumpy, or go to LA where he will be back with his friendly father figure Rudy???? :D

Seems like a easy choice for Yao!!! :D

I wonder what has JVG done to you. Did he steal your girlfriend or what?

He "stole" my favorite NBA franchise, and turned them into the New York Knicks.
