"Houston Rockets guard Trevor Ariza(notes) lost his cool yesterday and threw a forearm at Toronto Raptors forward DeMar DeRozan(notes), which got Ariza chucked from the game. Now he's likely looking at a one-game suspension, according to the Houston Chronicle. And the paper says it won't take NBA disciplinarian Stu Jackson very many views of the videotape to make such a decision.

Ariza was 0 for 9 by that point in the game and had just had the ball stolen from him by DeRozan so he was clearly not the happiest camper in the building.

As the paper points out, Ariza missed on his attempted hit on DeRozan - just like all his shots."

The diss at the end of the article was pretty cold.

I sincerely wish and hope that Trevor Ariza learns a lesson from his suspension, although it is unlikely given hos prior actions.

I also feel that we as fans of the Houston Rockets do not endorse his unfortunate actions as displaying toughness. Kindly note that Trevor Ariza's actions were most cowardly, and have no place on a classy team such as the Rockets.

    hahaha....that's awesome.

He deserves the suspension. It's seems pretty obvious some kind of disciplinary action will be taken.

    Ariza struck out swinging....

Am I the only one that thinks that it wasnt such a big deal? yeah he should be suspended, but these things happen, anyone who has already played any type of sport knows that sometimes emotion takes the best of you.

How many players get so mad over their ****ty play that they take a swing at their opponent?

What prior actions are you referring to? I'm not aware of Ariza having a history of taking cheap shots at other players.

What worries me about Ariza isn't just that he's shooting horribly from the field, but that he's not getting himself to the line.

Good scorers in this league will struggle from the field at times, but they can still help their team by drawing fouls and getting the freebies. Ariza isn't averaging even 3 free throw a game. For a guy with his athleticism and the green light to do pretty much whatever he wants in the offense, I find that astonishing.

I think he shies away from contact when driving. Instead of trying to draw a foul, he'll avoid he defender and throw up a very low-percentage shot.

umm its really is how it happened. if his opponent was playing dirty and roughing him and not getting called for it than yes his action might not have been a big deal. but it was a clean steal and Ariza just plain sucked and he tried to swing at someone who did nothing wrong. Plain pathetic. Lost a lot of respect points for Ariza

Does anyone happen to have a clip of the "shot" he took on DeRozan?

I was taking care of some business and completely forgot we played at 11 in the morning.

    If so, thanks in advance.

Well, he is paid for the next 5 seasons. I am sure he expects at least a 5 year, $50 million contract after his contract runs out. In his mind, the only thing that could get in the way of that is a serious injury.

He thinks Tracy managed to get a $100 million deal by making tough jumpers.

Please refer to last year's contest versus the Portland Trailblazers while still a member of the Los Angeles Lakers. He did awful thing to Rudy Fernandez.
