Isn't Cartoon Net owned by the same company that owns Fox?

I assumed so since AS gets the new Family Guy stuff a week or so after it shows on Fox.

anyway, if Fox wanted nothing to do with Futurama, CC may have been the only one interested.

I always assumed this was because Cartoon Network picked up Family Guy after Fox cancelled it, so Fox had to make a deal with Cartoon Network in order to bring it back. I figured that deal involved Cartoon Network getting to air any new episodes much sooner than syndications deals would allow. I might be wrong there.

On Futurama, this is awesome. I missed this thread a year and a half ago when it was mentioned that this was coming back. Now I get to see more of Bender and Fry's hilarious shennanigans. Plus, the professor always has some great lines.

Cartoon Network is owned by Time Warner. IIRC, AS gets the new stuff so quickly based on it's contract with Seth McFarlane. He credits them for the resurrection so he didn't want to screw them out of new episodes.

When listening to the commentary throughout the last couple of episodes, Michael Bateman makes it sound like if the show was ever brought back, he'd be the first person to sign on. Arnett really isn't going anywhere with his movie career, so he'd probably come back. Michael Cera is the only one that would maybe not come back.

i have all the dvds and bender's big score, but i feel a bit sad i had thought CC was going to start airing new episodes again, but i was reading that they would just air the straight to dvd movies as episodes (much like how family airs the movie as episodes, censored of course)

i was hoping for the movies AND new episodes.

Bender, Dr. Zoidberg, Zapp Brannigan some of the greatest characters EVER created

I'm sure while doing commentary for the DVDs, they'd say that. A couple of years can really change things. Take a look at Arnett's imdb page, and compare before and after AD - he has gotten the most post-AD work of anyone involved with the show (6 projects already for 2008, and several for 2009).

Awesome news. Anyone that see's my web site will know how happy I am to hear this!

Its amazing how when the series was still fresh, it didnt have much of a following. Its like people started to watch it after they stopped making it and realized how good it was.

Over here in Australia it gets shown in prime time every weeknight. Its also shown a few times a day on cable as well.
