At the opposite end of the cap-chewing spectrum are the players who produce big-time numbers for relatively small paychecks:

    1. Michael Redd, Bucks. Redd is one of the most efficient scorers in the league and will make just $3 million this season.

    2. Jim Jackson, Rockets. Defense and leadership endeared him to coach Jeff Van Gundy, and he is getting only $2.5 million.

    3. Chauncey Billups, Pistons. Before he was The Finals MVP, he got a midlevel deal from Detroit. He will make $5.5 million this season.

    4. Donyell Marshall, Raptors. Marshall's wonderful season was lost in Toronto, which acquired him last December. After the deal, he averaged 16.2 points and 10.8 rebounds while shooting 40.3 percent on 3s. For all this, he gets just $5.5 million.

    5. Sam Cassell, Timberwolves. Cassell loves to talk about unjustly underpaid he is. He has a point -- at $5.7 million, his talent is a great value.

    A current and former Rocket.

Yao should be ranked #1 on that list...

I think he is getting only 4 million a year or so...

JJ is still cheaper, plus Cat makes dumb critical mistakes.

5.7 million for an obvious top 5 PG, Cassell should be at the top of that list.

Not that Cat should knock JJ off the list, since JJ is an even better bargain, but he should be added to it.

i would like to see a team of:

billups, red, jj, marshall, and yao

it will never happen, and tmac/yao combo can be much greater, but this team would be fun to watch. and cheap!

Any non-rookie contract list that doesn't start with Peja or Artest is worthless.

Like all other EX Clipper players you are able to showcase your talent and make it seem better than it really is on a crappy team and then leave after 3 years cause the owner won't pay to keep you and you get big bucks from other teams thinking you can really play like that on a good team as you did for a crappy team....which never pans out.

True. Those names on the list are good, but Peja and Artest are the 2 biggest bargains in the league right now.

    1. Peja
    2. Artest
    3. Billups
    4. Cat
    5. Marshall

I love Jimmy Jackson he was one of my favorite players last season..I thought he was pretty good when he was in Sacramento..I was glad when we got him..and he played very well. He did screw up a bit in the playoffs lol but he did so much for us. He made a lot of 3's..was solid and provided leadership..a great role player and a very good contract. But we have other players who have big contracts heh. I hope he plays well this season too! Go Jimmy!
