How (1 at a time, fast, slow, read 50 pages, ignore for 2 years, then finish)? 6. How often/long do you read? 7. As books become more and more digital, will you embrace it or cling to the paper versions? 8. 1. Do you read much? Yes 2. Why? Why not? Primarily for my own personal enjoyment; to escape; to further my knowledge/education 3. What do you read (categories, not specific books)? The fantasy genre. Knights in shining armor, wizards, dragons, etc. I also am into mythology, legends and folklore, philosophy, and weird stuff like ghosts, hauntings, and cryptozoology. For non-fiction, its history, biographys, etc. 4. When? Usually at night before I go to sleep, but sometimes on a rainy day. 5. How (1 at a time, fast, slow, read 50 pages, ignore for 2 years, then finish)? One at a time and slowly, so I take in everything. When I'm reading a series, I'll finish one and pick up the next one. I usually finish a standard-length book in a week or two. 6. How often/long do you read? In spurts. When I'm reading something, I'll read it every night, but when I'm finished, I'll go a few months before picking up another one (unless I'm reading a series). 7. As books become more and more digital, will you embrace it or cling to the paper versions? Paper. Lord knows my eyes are fried enough from staring at a monitor reading this website. 8. How many people have you met in your life? 8,652,003 ------------------ "The idea of a band nowadays is five pretty boys, one with a tattoo, one with a shaved head, and on and on. 1. Do you read much? yes 2. Why? Why not? I dunno, I guess I like it or something. Been the best reader in my class every year. 3 What do you read (categories, not specific books)? How often/long do you read?prolly for about an hour, then skip an 4-5 hours, than read again for an hour. 7. As books become more and more digital, will you embrace it or cling to the paper versions?paper. I can read them in bed or in the bathroom. 8. 1. Do you read much? No. 2. Why? Why not? I'm a writer. Although I can see the value in reading, I'd much rather spend my time writing. Reading and Writing are like old drinking buddies. They never get together anymore. 3. What do you read (categories, not specific books)? If I do read, I typically read Dickens. His stories would rise out of my bed and open my window. 4. When? When I have nothing better to do. When doors are slamming. When I try to feel better. 5. How (1 at a time, fast, slow, read 50 pages, ignore for 2 years, then finish)? Slowly, so I can see how an author approaches his characters and subject matter. 6. How often/long do you read? As often as I serve the community. 7. As books become more and more digital, will you embrace it or cling to the paper versions? Paper, but when doing research, I believe the digital world is like a lavendar soap. It points me to the tub. 8. How many people have you met in your life? Enough that I can no longer count them on one hand. I often open a grape drink between my knees, sit on the porch, and think over the people I've met, and then continue to think of the few that I've ever truly known. It's embarrassing how I've lived. It will be even more embarassing when I die. ------------------ humble, but hungry.
1. Yes 2. I like to read 3. I like to read biographies about people I'm interested in (blues musicians), topics I'm interested in (blues music, sports), and historical fiction 5. One at a time so I can concentrate, usually 50-100 pages per sitting 6. At least twice a week for an hour or so at a time, but my spare time is shrinking 7. I will cling to the paper versions. I like how they look on my bookshelves. 8. Thousands, although I can't remember most of their names ------------------ "Blues is a Healer" --John Lee Hooker
What weird questions to ask. I won't answer them except to say that I used to read a ton for my own enjoyment but ever since I fully entered adulthood (got my own place, got a college degree, got a job, got a wife, got a dog), I haven't read nearly as much as I used to. The amount of time that is exclusively my own has shrunk so much that I don't generally spend it reading. I'm trying to reverse that trend, though it's not getting far. I'm also not wasting anymore time reading trash. If I'm going to read it, it better have won a Pulitzer or something. That's the funny thing about personal time: it's most enjoyable when it can be frittered away, but when you have precious little of it even the time you have you use in a draconian way. ------------------ RealGM Gafford Art Artisan Cakes
I've decided to be serious now. 1. Yes. 2. Enjoyment, education. 3. Magazines and newspapers mostly. I don't read as many books as I used to. When I do, they are all usually non-fiction - spiritual stuff, biographies and informational (self-help, how to and stuff about business or the music industry). 4. I can't read at night. I get too sleepy. Mostly in the afternoons. 5. Magazines and newspapers go fast. Books take me some time - usually a week or so. 6. I read pretty much every day. I read as long as I am not tired or bored. 7. Absolutely. I have already given up my newspaper subscription for the internet and would do the same if my magazines were online. I imagine I would do the same for books as well since most of what I like to read is informational in nature. 8. Met? Many. Known? Few. ------------------ And then, depression set in...
1. Do you read much? Yes, but like PhiSlamma I like to write more than read. 2. Why? Why not? Reading is fundamental 3 What do you read (categories, not specific books)? Religious, philosophical, sci-fi, horror 4. When? At night 5. How (1 at a time, fast, slow, read 50 pages, ignore for 2 years, then finish)? If the book entertains me I finish it as fast as I can 6. How often/long do you read? Depends on the book 7. As books become more and more digital, will you embrace it or cling to the paper versions? I'll probably switch to ebook once more titles come. 8. 1. Do you read much? Yes. 2. Why? Why not? I usually get more out of a book than a tv show. Unless, of course, the Rockets or 'Stros are on. 3 What do you read (categories, not specific books)? Some take longer than others. 6. How often/long do you read? It varies. 7. As books become more and more digital, will you embrace it or cling to the paper versions? Paper. 8. How many people have you met in your life? Met plenty. Disturbing. I meet people and then walk past them on campus sometimes. Nothing. I don't know if they just forget that they met me only a couple of weeks before. I must not have made a good impression, I say to myslef. Do I really care though? Not really. I'm not expecting them to break stride and engage in a heart-to-heart converstation b/w classes. It's just the fact of the matter. Sometimes I'll even meet someone a second time and they'll introduce themselves as if we'd never met. This happened recently at a bar. I try to remember names, but I always remember the faces of people I meet. Can anyone relate? ------------------ "...just because a clever person can complicate the discussion about the truth doesn't necessarily mean he or she is making any progress in finding it."
I can. Lots of people remember my name, but I can barely remember anyone(Uh, hey, guy... how's it goin?). And I miss a lot of people trying to get my attention sometimes. It's like I have tunnelvision. Maybe i'll answer rimmy's questions later. ------------------ snap crackle pop
You ever get those moments where you can just FEEL someone staring at you ? 1. Do you read much? Not right now, but i intend to. 2. Why? Why not? Case of the lazies right now. 3 What do you read (categories, not specific books)? Used to just be escapism. Fantasy. Mythology. Horror. Now, things I can learn from too. Textbooks( ), philosophy, whatever. 4. When? I prefer night time or whenever i am bored. 5. How (1 at a time, fast, slow, read 50 pages, ignore for 2 years, then finish)? I prefer 1 at a time, and i like to blaze through the books, but understand as much as i can from them. I always have my dictionary handy. 6. How often/long do you read? hours 7. As books become more and more digital, will you embrace it or cling to the paper versions? digital: hell no. Only if i can print the digital books and make a cheapo book. I read in many different positions. Being stuck in a chair ... not comfortable. 8. How many people have you met in your life? I've MET many people, but i KNOW very few people. My wife, my mom, i know. I used to know more, but i let people drift away, don't know why. ------------------ snap crackle pop
Not really. I've gotten skilled enough at carrying a conversation with people whose names i don't know that i'm not that uncomfortable with it anymore. I have done that with people I don't like though. ------------------ snap crackle pop

1. Do you read much? I read in stages. I'll go six months reading almost every day, then six months of not reading. 2. Why? Why not? Why? Because I work long hours with nothing to do. It helps kill the time. Why not? I get bored and need something else to occupy my mind. 3 What do you read (categories, not specific books)? Detective stories. John Sandford, James Patterson, and others. 4. When? At work. Not so much during day shifts (too many bosses and things to do), but nights shifts are prime reading time. 5. How (1 at a time, fast, slow, read 50 pages, ignore for 2 years, then finish)? Fast. I can do 200 pages a night, more if it is a slow night. 6. How often/long do you read?
