What happened with Sean Williams? I think I heard them mentnion something about it during the game tonight.
Wow I wonder did they even attempt to trade Sean Williams? Either way both Williams boys have been bust.
I seem to remember a ton of hype for Sean Williams leading up to that draft. Forgot if it was just us fans or also the Rockets organization. Thank god we didn't move up to draft him then.
Interesting side note of this deal is that the Nets what to unload Josh Boone. I think the Rox should have some interest, the guy is a legit 6-10 who can rebound and be a body to bang with the big boys. 2 million this season and the Rox could simple renounce his rights and be done with it in the offseason. WojYahooNBA Nets trying to unload Josh Boone to save some money, but nothing yet. NJ wanted Joey Graham's non-guaranteed deal in Denver, but no shot.
Najera's contract is partially guaranteed for $500k next season if he's waived before June 30th. Dampier has a fully non-guaranteed contract at $13.078M for next season. Those two make a $16M (up to $20.1M) trade asset.
"To open a roster spot, New Jersey will also cut center Sean Williams(notes), who was the 17th pick in the 2007 draft out of Boston College. Williams has been a huge disappointment for the Nets, who believed the 6-foot-10 center had the ability to become one of the NBA’s best shot-blockers." From yahoo article above
Najera is one of the most annoying players in the league who takes cheap shots and flops. Fits in nicely with the Mavs.
I saw DM's interview when he saw Williams prior to the draft. He said he will be gone before our pick. In hindsight,it was great not to move up to get him.
humphries is currently the best player involved in this trade but najera might give the mavs a little bit more of what they need (hustle, defense) so it remains to be seen if they get better or not. in either case it won't change much.
Based on what I have seen this year while he was on the Nets he seemed to be slower than before. But then again, maybe playing on the Nets had something to do with it. He was never really much of an offensive threat. He would be put in games to be physical, take some cheap shots, get under the skin of other players, and pick up some charges. His best role on the Mavs would be to relieve Marion for 5-10 minutes of the game. Any longer, and he hurts the Mavs offense. Maybe use him at the 4-5 when Dampier is in foul trouble and go small. In any case, I dont seem him making the Mavs better. More annoying? Sure.
Actually, Najera's contract is fully guaranteed for the next two seasons EXCEPT for $500,000 each season if he's waived prior to June 30, 2010. This means that a team waiving him after this season would still have to pay $4.75M of the $5.75M remaining on his deal. But it would save $1M. worzel, if you got that information from shamsports, take another look at their salary information. You'll see what I'm talking about.
