I am an unwavering Yao Ming fan. I have never doubted him. If he avoids injury I'm certain he will go down as one of the greatest players of all time. I've said it since the day we got the first pick (and I heard someone on this board say it); "It's Yao or never, baby!!"

    It's Yao or never.

Bandwagoners, it's time for you make a commitment for once in your lives and believe in something.

I love Yao and all, and think that if he continues to show improvements and the commitment to excellence that he's demonstrated over his career, he'll be one of the great ones. However let's not get ahead of ourselves for crying out loud. Yes, he's played amazingly well since coming back from his injury. But that isn't that long a strectch of games. Let's not crown him king/emperor/savior based on this recent play.

IMO, Yao has a very long way to go before even being considered for such honors. Let him just play and improve. Tis expectations such as this that do him a disservice. Let him keep this production up for a multiple seasons/ let him lead us into the playoffs/championships. Then we'll have something far more concrete to base proclamations such as this (him being HOF'r) on. I have no doubt that he can do it, but I'd rather wait for him to earn the honors before giving it to him.

Yao being Yao, I am sure he'd agree with me : P .

    I'm a big Yao fan.
But to claim him to be Hall of Fame when his team may not even make the playoff is beyond me.
It's not the time to ask someone to eat crow.
Don't make Yao fan look selfish. We should be rooting for the team.

I think he's easiliy going to be in the Hall of Fame (his celebity is just too big + X number of All-Star starts). Whether or not he'll deserve it is another question - lately it looks like he will.

The hall of fame is not only for NBA accomplishments, he might get in because of all he's done for China or something

theres alot of players in the hall of fame who haven't played in the NBA

i just think its too early to set claim on his NBA accomplishments

Fromobile: Sorry but I never recall you backing any of my Yao Ming Posts in the early days as I was the first to be called a Yao Only Fan as I have been the most loyal Fan of Yao Ming since the 2000 Olympics and the Houston Rockets since 1982 and in San Diego before that. Y

Don't you guys think, just for thefact that he is the first Chinese 1st pick, first Chinese All Star, and THE player to open up the Chinese market will be good enough for Yao to be in the Hall of Frame???? I really think so of some kind of Colleges can get in.... the contributions Yao gave to NBA is way beyone his basketball skill.

I don't mean to look down upon any of those accomplishments. The non-basketball related highs are definitely praise worthy. However, I'd want to see Yao get into the HOF (if/when he does) based on his play and accomplishments on the court for the Houston Rockets. Hey but that just might be me...

The basketball hall of fame really isn't that tough to get into. It's not like baseball, at least.

Dude, if you jack off in front of your computer with doors closed, that's fine with me (since that's your business and it's your room that needs to be cleaned afterwards)...

However if you start jacking off in your friend's car or on the bus, then something's definiately wrong with ya. Everybody knows about your habits and it takes a sh!tload of time to clean your mess up...

The same logic goes to the level of Yaogasm after seeing Yao performing well in the past 9 games. I am glad that Yao has taken himself into the next level (and hopefully be able to sustain it), however we shall wait and see before judging his merits in a Rockets uniform.

When you're overly obsessed with Yaogasm, it is just like suffering from a permanent erection after polishing your bishop for the first time. Everybody will know that you're merely a YOF and it takes a long time to "repair" your reputation as a fan of the Houston Rockets.

    That's my 0.02.

It's like good parenting, guys. "You don't teach a child to swim when they're drowning", meaning you don't teach lessons when the child is in trouble. You wait till things are going well, and then ride the high tide, and stay committed and positive, even during the low tide.

It's the same thing with the "Yao is soft" faction of Rockets fans. Here's an oppurtunity for you to easily decide that Yao is a Bad Mo Fo, and leave it at that. No quitting. I challenge you to be Rockets Fans.

Secondly, to kwik_e_mart, funny post, but to suggest that a Rockets fan cares about reputation misses the point and I think you have some thinking to do. I got my Rockets jacket spit on in middle school (in houston) because everyone hated the rockets in those days. And the team colors wern't red and gold, by the way, they were red and yellow.

I love Yao Ming. He is the best. Yao or never.
