    cold beer + frozen mug = excellent celebratory beverage

    also...

    Bulleit or Maker's Mark + ice (1-2 cubes) = a soothing night-cap

    where I come form, a three wise men was jager, rumple minze, and goldschlagger.

    besides, all you need is eggnog and good bourbon.

    These drinks all sound rough to me. Even the straight Makers Mark on the rocks got tainted with something foreign. The holidays are the best excuse to splurge on the expensive scotch.

    My egg nog:

    1 dozen medium egg yolks
    2 cups sugar
    1 quart whole milk
    1 fifth dark rum
    Half gallon ice cream

    Pour the egg yolks into a blender and start whipping. Slowly incorporate the sugar. Then add the rum and blend for 5 minutes.

    Pour into a large vat, or large pitcher. Add the milk and ice cream. Stir until ice cream is melted. (roughly 10 minutes.)

    Ladle into mugs. Top with nutmeg.

    I've always wanted to try some egg nog but I have been reluctant to do so considering it contains raw eggs.

    I assume that is vanilla ice cream. Any particualr type? Vanilla Bean, French Vanilla, Plain?

    I'm always partial to Southern Comfort in my eggnog, but Rum is tasty too.

    Just found this online via a friend (haven't tasted, but it sounds nice):

    Peppermint Eggnog Punch

    INGREDIENTS

    * 1 quart peppermint ice cream
    * 1 quart eggnog
    * 4 (12 fluid ounce) cans or bottles ginger ale, chilled
    * 1 cup rum
    * 24 small peppermint candy canes for garnish

    DIRECTIONS

    1. Set aside 2 or 3 round scoops of ice cream in the freezer for garnish. Stir remaining ice cream until softened. Gradually stir in eggnog and rum. Transfer to a punch bowl, and stir in ginger ale. Hang candy canes around the edge of the punchbowl. Float reserved ice cream scoops on top, and serve immediately.

    Plain vanilla. I use Blue bell, but any type will do. Everything else overpowers any distinct flavor differences between brands. Same goes with the dark rum.
