OK, I've had my 360 since Christmas and have had no problems. I bought MLB 2k6 yesterday and played it all night. I just began playing again about an hour ago and the game started to freeze occassionally. I thought it was just the disk so I put in GRAW and was going along fine for about 10 minutes when it also froze. Has anyone else had this problem? Is it due to overheating or do I have a defective disk drive? This is the first time it's done it (that I can remember). I really don't want to have to send this into Microsoft to fix so I'm hoping it's just an overheating thing.
Mine used to overheat and then just shut off. I called support, and they mailed me a new power source. I haven't had any problems since. Does the light on your power source blink?
There have been a lot of reports of MLB 2K6 freezing up. No word yet on any resolution to the issue - or what is even causing it.
I'm not sure but I'll definitely check that out. My console doesn't shut off though, the screen just freezes. It's weird because it just started all of a sudden. I have heard, though, that it may be a problem with the power source itself overheating.
My roommates 360 started freezing about a month ago. He called and they told him he had to send it in to get it fixed. So he sent it in, they provide you the box and pay for shipping so it doesn't cost anything. Only took about a week to get it back. I doubt its the power source beacause its not turning off. Hope that helps.
My 360 froze from the moment I bought it. I called customer service and after about a week they decided I should send it in. After a few days they sent me a new 360.
Have you gone to http://www.windowsupdate.com and downloaded the latest Patches and HotFixEs and what not?? I hear MocoSoft has this great ActiveX control that can download memory into your seXbox and it won't heat up anymore... or maybe that's a bad thing?
Hmmm, the site you entered and the site that link goes to are different. The link takes me to a Microsoft spoof website.
Hmm... I went to the MS troubleshooting page and when I disconnected the Hard Drive, the problems seemed to go away. Does this make sense? EDIT: We have wireless internet issues at our place and I have the 360 hooked up with the wireless adapter. With the hard drive out, you can't connect to XBox, so would this make sense as a problem? I'm doing all kinds of testing as we speak.
Sorry if this is totally unrelated.. How do you guys feel about the 360? Is it worth buying? I found a lot of bundle that comes with the play and charge thing. Is that useful at all? Do I really need it?
I love the system. The play and charge thing is pretty useless as it gets rid of the whole "wireless" aspect of the console. However, the batteries it comes with will come in handy with the new battery pack charger being released next week. So if you're willing to pay the price you are for a rechargable battery it's well worth it because the pack is basically a battery and uses the cable to charge them. on the original topic: I think I'm just going to cash in the extended warranty I have on it at Best Buy. No point in getting a refurbished hard drive or system so it can mess up again.
seems it's likely the games fault and not the system: http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/701/701506p1.html
Yea, seems it's something to do with how the game handles the hard drive and seems to happen once you crank up the game for the second time. Apparently, 2K Sports has put out a statement that they are aware of the problem and working on fixing it.
