In the latest edition of the Bonus Round at Gametrailers, representatives from all 3 companies (Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo) sit down and talk about their online service as well as the service of their competitors. This is divided into multiple segments, the first of which was posted this past weekend, where Xbox Live exec Aaron Greenberg sat down with Geoff Keighley to answer some questions. I was going to wait another week or two (when all the interviews would be done) before I posted this stuff here, but since some major sites are already quoting this interview and making a big deal out of it, I'll go ahead and post it here: They talk about a lot of things, including 3 things Sony is doing right and wrong with their online service (according to Greenberg), the state of Xbox Live Anywhere, Microsoft's stance on user-generated content, XNA, justification of XBL pricing, the success of the XBL Marketplace, and more. Geoff Keighley is really tough on Greenberg, which is pretty cool to see from a journalist IMO. I do recommend checking out the interview in its entirety rather than reading quotes or the small summary I just provided though. One thing to note for later was that Keighley mentioned something about a major developer thinking about releasing a major Fall title on the PS3 first since Microsoft won't let them support user-created mods...supposedly. It should be interesting to see what the remaining segments are like, especially if Geoff continues to ask the tough questions and put these guys on the spot. I need a good answer from someone at Sony as to why it is so difficult to get their movies, music, etc., up on some service supported by the PS3 and/or PSP, not to mention other issues with the PSN (where's the in-game access to the XMB? I saw that running months prior to launch, but it still isn't available).
The next segment with the PSN guy has been uploaded: Kind of disappointing, compared to the interview with the XBL guy anyway. Anytime he was asked about Sony's response to missing features (cross-game invites, in-game access to the XMB, achievements/gamer score, etc.), the guy just responds by saying they're working on it, or that it is coming soon. I guess that's better than saying they're not working on it, but I don't usually have much confidence in Sony when they say they're working on getting a feature out soon. Didn't help that Geoff didn't seem as hard on the Sony guy as he was the Microsoft guy. For example, they didn't even touch on the fact that Sony hasn't been able to offer their content (music, movies, etc.) on the PSN, while Microsoft has worked hard on getting several content providers to offer media on their service. That was one thing I wanted Geoff to ask and "attack" Sony for. However, I guess there is something related to that stuff: http://www.paidcontent.org/entry/41...-video-services-focus-on-servicing-playstati/
dont know where else to put it...but apparently the are not releasing Manhunt 2 for the nintendo and sony because they do not allow 3rd party games to be Adult ONly games. kinda sucks because i was looking forward to this game. I dont know if i would like it...never played the 1st but seemed to have potential for some good gameplay.
I'm pretty sure Rockstar is going to force some changes to the game so it can be released. It's bad business to invest in games that doesn't get published.
yeah. they will have to go back and change things up. Some are complaining about the idea of stalking and killing people. I dont really understand that...do they prefer running around and throwing grenades and using your chainsaw/machine gun to mow them down that aspect seems silly. However some of the other content i can understand. I saw one clip where there is a fetish/bondage bar that you go into. It has some type of p*rn movie on the wall and dancers and crap.
yeah. if its a few very graphic scenes, they can be easily changed. But if its the principle of stalking to kill...then the games ruined. I wouldnt imagine its the stalking part but who knows. I wouldnt imagine that they would have a problem with it now since anyone with half a brain knew this game was going to be pretty hardcore.
