So I just got an Xbox 360 and now I need to get some games. Which titles do you guys suggest I get first? Any must haves? How about any games that are fun to play with a big group of people? Also, I'd like to get a game that I can play with my (non-gamer) wife, since she is the one that bought it for me. There's been a lot of talk on here about ES Oblivion, but I generally like my RPG's on the PC. Last question, any of ya'll using the wireless adaptor? How's it working out for ya?
1. I like PGR3 and Burnout for playing with friends and Condemned was good to play by yourself along with CoD2, but both were way to short IMO.. 2. I'm going to sit down and play Oblivion again this weekend, but I kinda got board with it (never have been a RPG fan) 3. The woman likes Hexic and Geometry Wars the best... 4. I'm using the wireless adaptor and I'm glad it can run on 802.11A, I'm using my 360 to stream all my MP3s into my living room from a media center PC (also works with XP) across the other side of the house..
FAR AND AWAY, the best games are oblivion and ghost recon: advance warfighter...must-have for any 360 owner
I plan to buy an Xbox 360 soon and the two titles on my list are Project Gotham Racing 3 and Fight Night 3. Maybe one of the basketball games though I heard none of them are that great. I already have Oblivion for the computer otherwise I would get that. I hear great things about Ghost Recon but might wait for it to come out for PC in May.
In truth COD2(FPS) is still my favorite 360 title. The game is just silky smooth to control and is one where anyone can pick up and play and easily get into it....a good game for a 360 newbie. Simply put this is one game that got me hook on the 360. Of course, the best game is probally Oblivion considering the scope and immersiveness of the game. One thing for sure, its not for everyone especially if you don't have a lot of free time. Its a game caters toward RPG fan or those that likes long drawn out adventure game. Rent Oblivion to see if you love it or hate it. If you're a graphic w**** and wants to be wowed by the power of the 360 graphic capabilities, then PGR3,FNR3 or Oblivion will do just that. Its the only reason why I still play PGR3 despite its lack of innovation and limited gameplay. FNR3 will wow you the most, but IMO I got super bored after several fights and the control feels stiff. If you have the xtra money or want to rent othe great games then you could also try out: Condemned (awesome scary game) Burnout(very fun, much better and cooler then NFS!) GRAW(might be a little hard but a great game) Kameo(Zelda meets Mario64 if thats what you into) NBA2k6(For sports lover) Ridge Racer (super fun and easy arcade racer) I'm a single player guy, so I can't speak for multi-player games, but I hope this will help you get started.
NBA2K6 - You're on Cluthfans. You HAVE to like basketball. PGR3 - Photorealistic racing sim Ridge Racer 6 - Arcade racing sim GRAW - Fantastic FPS Oblivion - Fantastic RPG
Games I've owned or rented. Maybe it will help in you decision. MADDEN: Only get if you plan on playing against friends all the time. I'm a franchise guy myself and it was worthless. NBA2K6: Awesome IMO. If you like basketball and want a close to sim experience in a video game, this is it. PERFECT DARK: It's OK. Played throug it co-op with my brother and was fun. Maybe it could be something you and the wife could play together on an easy difficulty. But, I would reccommend it being a rental. CONDEMNED: This game hasn't gotten a lot of pub, but it's a REAL solid game. Dark, run down buildings with just a flashlight, only a pipe or board in your hand to defend yourself while psychos are out to kill you. Freakiness insues. GHOST RECON: I rented it and was pretty sweet from the little I played. Was so dang hard though IMO which, on one hand is great, but I got REAL sick of dying every 10 seconds. CALL OF DUTY. Pretty cool. I have been sick of the WWII shooting games for a few years but this blew me away. OBLIVION: In difference from the above poster, I've never been an RPG fan and I'm loving this game so far. Just so much to see and do and every town you get to is a whole other experience. OUTFIT: Rented to play co-op with my brother and it got old quick IMO. Played the demos of Fight Night 3 (pretty cool) and Kameo (suprisingly fun). In terms of games to play with your wife, you might just find everything you need in the Live Arcade. Hexic comes on the hard drive on the premium system. My non-game playing wife loves that game. She was on my 360 twice as much as me when I first got the system because of that game.
^^my wife has spent plenty of hours on Bankshot Billiards but that is because she really likes playing pool. It seems like the ladies like the 360 arcade games the most.
That may be the case for now, but just wait until Street Fighter 2 and Texas Hold'em launches... actually I play arcade games more then my other games, Geometry wars owns me. My favorite titles to date have been... GUN - This game is fun as hell, and doesn't get as much credit or play as it should... an awesome game to rent since it really doesn't have much replay value after you beat it, it is like GTA in the Wild West. Condemned - Maybe one of the best "first player" first person shooters I've ever played... fun as hell, great story but another rental because it doesn't have multi-player. Call of Duty 2 - The single best WWII shooter I have ever played, the AI and dialogue are hilarious at times... Halo style. Need for Speed Most Wanted - I hate the "Fast and the Furious" crowd but this game looks and plays amazing. Online play is freaking awesome too. Project Gotham Racing 3 - A "pretty" driving game that is a simulator more then an arcade title... if you love cars, you'll love this game. Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter - My dream game... they did EVERYTHING right with this game. YOU MUST BUY THIS GAME. Oblivion - See above, same results. Fight Night Round 3 - Stunning graphics and fun gameplay... A rental for me because it loses it's fun factor after a while. Burnout Revenge - Another great car game, and fun... it isn't a completely new game, most of it is rehashed from previous versions... a solid rental. I've been happy with nearly every 360 title I've played with the exception of the sports games... EA and friends have left a lot to be desired with their 360 versions of the games, but i imagine that is something they'll get better at with more "port" time on the console. As I said earlier the suprise hit for me has been Geometry Wars, that games is CRAZY and addicting as hell... some great controller throwing fun.
Finally got a 360 this last week (only when I made a deal with a friend for my old games/system that ended up cutting more than half the cost of a 360 out) and am pretty impressed. I've been trying to get that 'pacifism' achievement in Geometry Wars and I swear I keep dying right at the 59 second mark. Anyway, I only have Oblivion and GRAW currently...and they are excellent. Oblivion tends to have some freezing problems occasionally (varies) but is a good game even on the console. GRAW is really, really well done. Beautiful game too. Not really a run and gun, but strategy and teamwork. Fight Night will probably be my next purchase, along with COD2 and maybe FarCry - mainly that last one for the amazing map editory. Overall, I'm really impressed with the package the 360 provides...and this is considering I already knew quite a bit about it beforehand.
i kinda like the godfather game. its gta with a godfather twist. i personally love the movies (at least I and II). im still hooked on fight night round 3 though...
Run from corner to corner. Go to one corner, wait until the last possible second and then move on to another corner... repeat this and you'll have it in 5 minutes. Also, you MUST complete your game to get the achievement... once you think you made it 60 seconds (I used my watch) just die 3 times in a row. Oh, and for some tips on being a Geometry Wars badass, check out... http://www.joystiq.com/2005/12/14/geometry-wars-video-2-1-million-score-by-former-world/
