I can't make up my mind! Income tax money is coming in and im buying a new console but I dunno which one. I'm just looking for something with good graphics, and quality games that will last til the next generation of games (i.e. no dreamcast). Little help?
What games do you want to play? Your answer is right there. Honestly, you should look at the atari 2600. It's cheap and has the best graphics. Gameplay is simple and fun plus the control layout is simple. You ever hear of this game called pong or pac man, e.t. even? Great games...really. I played it so much my joystick broke so I had to buy a new one. One time I almost beat the high score in pac man after 20 hours of gruesome ghost eating endurance but alas I failed. In pitfall I found mother teresa and she stabed me in the back with a butter knife and killed me. That was the only time I found her in the super secret hiding spot after many hours of left, right, up and down.
Halo is exclusive to MS and Madden/Gta will be on both platforms so the xbox360 would be the best buy for you. If you like Halo, you should check out Gears of War.
In that case, get the 360. The PS3 has a nice game called Resistance which is a FPS, but the 360 has an equivalent which actually got higher ratings in Gears of War.
Graphics are overrated. The difference in graphics among the big three systems is marginal, and doesn't make up for poor gameplay. Anybody can spraypaint a turd metallic silver, but it is still a turd. If you want to spend 600 bucks on a metallic silver turd, go ahead and buy a PS3. If you want a game system that you'll actually enjoy, get a Wii...
Seriously, why do people even think about graphics anymore? I'm sure it was important when the decision was Genesis vs. SNES, but now the only big differences in graphics is stuff like reflections and shading and all that miniscule stuff that nobody really notices unless they have an HDTV or they look really close. There is a reason the Wii is kicking the PS3's ass...
Aside from Zelda what else is out there for the Wii? After the Gamecube and it's tiny library I just can't see myself buying another Nintendo System. I have both the 360 and PS3. The 360 has a bigger library of games right now and Gears of War is really cool. The PS3 only has a few games and I've been playing Resistance fall of man and Fight Night 3 since I bought it. But there isn't a bunch on the way till around spring when some big titles start to hit.
If you're only going to play games and want Halo, then get the 360...keep in mind only a handfull of games are Backwards compatible... If you are getting it to play next gen format movies, then I'd say the PS3...With this option, you'll be paying the same amount as the 360 (when you include the $100 Wifi needed for the 360) and overtime, PS3 will have a better library than it does now...No console has a large library of games at launch...
I have a 360, I was really anticipating getting a PS3 as well, until I actually saw the price tag. I mean, for 600 bucks, you aren't getting much over the 360. Sure you get free online play, but the service is nowhere as good as XBox Live. Live is a huge piece of the argument for 360 for me. As far as games, Sony has Resistance, FF13 (whenever it comes out), GTHD (Whenever it comes out), but other than those titles, not much exclusive to the PS3 that you can't find on the 360. I say go with the 360 mainly because of the bang for your buck.
I honestly don't see the point of having a PS3 and 360 until the exclusives for PS3 start rolling out (not just FOM)
Unless you are a big blueray fan then ps3 is just an extra 200 bucks for nothing. Most of the games are just being ported over from 360 to ps3 so games like Madden look exactly the same. Also I have never had more fun playing a game... EVER... Then playing player vs player on Gears of War through Live. I mean I've been gaming since Atari and had many consoles, but man playing GOW on Live is like crack. I know people skipping working and ignoring their wives just to practice more GOW.
For me one of the main reason I bought a PS3 was for the blue ray DVD player and I've enjoyed that quite a bit
