Well, my Xbox just died, I just got back from Montreal today and thought I would play some BC2, and boom, RROD. This is the 4th time on this Xbox, and in the kids room we have had it happen once on that unit to, for a total of 5 RROD on 2 systems. The only thing is that it takes generally 7 days or so to get it fixed because the repair center is in McCallen..... Sucks...but at least it is free to get repaired....guess I will have to bogart the kids Xbox or play PS3 until it gets back.....Dang it. DD
I had a 1st gen 360 that got the RROD 2 times, but the newest Jasper version is a HUGE improvement. You can leave it on for hours, and it barely gets warm. Hell, the air is actually cool for the first 15 minutes or so.
You guys ever try putting those fans that attach to the back of the xbox? I got a RROD about 10 months after I bought my xbox...after I got it back, I attached the intercooler to it and Ive been going on a couple years now with no problems. Of course, I just probably jinxed the crap out of my xbox, so I'll probably be getting RROD within a week.
This just asks for a "cool story bro" But since everybody else seems to be taking it somewhat seriously, I'll be mature. That sucksss. I love the 360, but Microsoft is FAILING in the reliability aspect. Lucky me, I've only had one xbox and I was a victim of 2 rings, not 3. I believe it was YOUR advice, but I sent it in as a "3 ring", and saved my ass 100 bucks
No reason owning a 360 if you can afford a decent PC. Has all of 360's worthwhile games, with better control and looks better.
Wonderfully, whomever fixed it, was one smart mother scratcher ! You are welcome...they don't even check. It works great on my new laptop, but not great on my old PC...need to either hookup the laptop to a big monitor with USB mouse and keyboard, or get a new PC. DD
I don't understand why you have such bad luck with yours DD. I've never had the RROD, but had to send it once to to a video error, and sent it in a 2nd time because the tray button didn't work and I just wanted to extend the warranty. I've had it 4 years.
I had the RROD once about 2-3 years ago, the bigger problem for me has been defective disc drives. I have gotten that fixed 3 times. I also just had a hard drive corrupt.
