So for the last 24 hours I have tried to play Black Ops on the system and it keeps freezing up! It will freeze up when I start it up or randomly when it is on or in the middle of game play. Tried a few other games and the same thing happens. I just got the system in April. Anybody know the problem and possible resolution?
I had the same problem with my xbox. I ended up getting the red ring of death about a year ago. I got it replaced for free.
Did you buy it new>? Since it was April, we it is not the new Style 360. A new 360 bought in April shouldn't have RROD (Fixed in Late 2008). Make sure it is has good air flow to make sure it's not overheating.
Try placing it vertical? lol. If it's freezing, somethings overheating and causing it to stop working. Did you move it recently? Make sure there's enough room for it to breath/ventilate better. I guess if you want to try a different solution, try installing the game? Did you buy it new? If you purchased it in April, it should be the jasper chipset, which is the most durable out of the 3-4 revisions before it. Hm..I just read online that some of the jasper chipsets have memory issues which causes games to freeze.
I can do it that with my Xbox with no issues. Granted, I have the new Style 360. Google Yellow light of Death on the PS3. PS3 has its issues too. I have a ps3, BTW. MS fixed the RROD on the old style 360 with jasper chipset in the winter of 2008.
That's not entirely true. There are people who still get the rrod with jasper, but it's less common and definitely more reliable than the prior chipsets.
I left mine on for only a few hours yesterday (granted I had not turned it on in the previous 6 months) and it nearly burned down the tv stand
Long time lurker, first time poster here. I had the same problem with my xbox a year ago. I ended up getting the red ring of death 3-4 weeks after the freezing problem. Freezing is one of the symptoms of the RROD.
Installing the game take up a lot of memory, not sure you want to do that Just email the xbox website or call them up. they will send you send u a box to ship it in and you send it back. they fix it in a couple days
https://myservice.xbox.com/en-US/pages/Welcome.aspx You can call Xbox support and have them do the registration for you. However, unless you do the actual repair request through the link above they charge you to have it done by a tech on the phone.
