    Great physical specimen.

    Really good shooter.

Great rebounder at the 2 position.

    He's going to BE special.

I would not mind taking him at 14. He and bud could be special together.

I would take him. efficient 3 pt shooter, good rebounder, good steals, great measurements. No questions about his work ethics.

Reminds me of a Jimmy Jackson type of player. I can see him being good but not great. He could be more NBA ready than most but he doesn't have the highest potential imo.

He has trouble creating is own shot due to ball handling, a worse than expected first step, and his mindset. Ergo, he may develop into a solid starting role player, but not much more than that.

The Rockets have too many wings who fit that description already. If you draft a wing you take boom/bust risky pick who can be that go-to scorer/creator. Otherwise you go for a big.

Potential. Isn't that what Rashad McCants, Corey Brewer, and Wayne Ellington had the most of also? Being a good athlete and shooter in college guarantees nothing.

Agreed. I don't see anything in him that says "great player" at the next level.

Rashad was an undersized shooting guards. Those guys always have trouble, because they can't see over the defender.
Ellington didn't have the physical tools that Henry has. He doesn't have the length and wingspan.

Brewer was never a great 3pt shooter.

Henry is 6'6 with long arms and wingspan, and a good athlete and a great 3pt shooter.

I've said it before, there are only 3 players I believe with star player potential in this draft.

    John Wall
    Evan Turner
    Xavier Henry

If he develops better ball handling, he will be a force. I can see him as a 22 and 5 guy for many years. He make come up slow, maybe like 10 a game his rookie season, but I expect a huge boost in numbers his second season. He is a very quick learner, and with his skills, he could be a all-star player.

Same here, the kid didn't live up to expectations in College, why would he suddenly become a stud in the NBA?

    Doesn't really compute.

He very much lived up to his expectations? 13.4 ppg on a stacked Kansas team? Vince Carter had the same numbers in college his sophomore year, in which he also played for a stacked UNC team. It all depends on the role he is given. If he is asked to be aggressive and take shots... he could put up 20 ppg his rookie season.

I think Henry plays a very similar style to James Harden. Obviously, Harden has much better handles and could finish inside with the best of them, but they're both fundamentally sound players, neither of which rely on extreme athleticism. Harden isn't a great shooter off the dribble, either. Let them spot up and they will kill you.

Henry looks like a Phoenix Qrich. Don't ask him to create or make plays, just let him bomb and he'll do great.

The difference is VC could create his own shot in college while Henry is pretty much a spot up shooter.

If we're talking talent-wise, then sign me up. Jim Jackon's lackluster career was a product of his bad attitude, not any lack of skill. In fact, before he jacked up his ankle and alienated his teammates in '94, he was dropping almost 26 PPG (albeit on a subpar Mavs team but also alongside Mash and Kidd).

His personality was the reason he's the most traveled journeyman in NBA history. I mean, the guy held out on his rookie contract because he didn't want to play for the Mavs. Despite all of it though, he put up decent numbers wherever he went, until his later years at least.

My point: if Henry is Jackson with a head on his shoulders, then he's well worth the 14th pick.

Still good enough for 14th in this draft even with his weaknesses on defense and lack of explosion,or ability to create his shot.

The Mavs at that point was like the Clippers, where the star players were not going to stay the long or a proportion of the team's top picks were bust.

From 89-96, look at how many bust they had.

Though, I can say it was one of the few times in NBA history two teammates averaged over 24 points a game (Jim Jackson, Jamal Mashburn). There was even a game against the Bulls where the two came very close to being one of a few duos in NBA history to score over 40 in game (Mashburn - 50, JJ - 38).

Jimmy Jackson = Better than most roleplayer
I'd still rather go for Whiteside before Henry. His ceiling isn't that high imo.
