I thought it would be fun to start a thread dedicated to a general chat about all those guys that sort of disappeared.

For a start, anyone know where these guys went (or if they retired after their rocket stints)?
    Robert Reid (retired after rockets?)
    Derrick Chevious
    Allen Leavell
    Pervis Short
    Dave Jamerson
    Chris Jent
    sleepy floyd
    Dave Wood
    buck johnson
rodney mccray (thorpe trade i think)
    john turner
    cedric maxwell
    ? petruska
Harold Minor (not a Rocket, but people were upset we took horry over him)

    Here's the one's I know about:

Robert Reid - he still lives in Houston and is some type of agent.

Rodney McCrae - Rodney was still playing in Europe last I checked.

Harold Minor - oh, Lord! He was out of basketball at last check although I know he had stints in the CBA and Europe. Baby Jordan. HA!

What ever happened to Chevious? I remember the buzz when we got him... but then nothing.

The Minor situation is pretty telling I think. Just goes to show what a gamble the draft is sometimes. (I think the best thing about nba.com is the database of first roudn drafts. You can't help but think "what if")

Despite the gruffs over horry the years we had him, he was a pretty good pick. He seems to have just gotten worse as the years go by though. Or maybe Rudy just knows how to get the best out of some guys. This may explain the emergence of so many CBAers out of our Rockets.

anyway, Leavell is also someone I remember being pretty good. Wonder where he is?

    Robert Reid
Ran several basketball camps after his career was over. He also worked for the Astros for a while. Won a court ruling when he slipped in a hotel room. Amount was something like $250,000 if I remember correctly. That was back in '97 or '98. He was also busted for cocaine possession about 2 or 3 years ago. As for what he's doing now, I dug up the following URL : http://www.spbl.com/news/110599.htm

    Derrick Chevious
Thought I heard he was playing in some overseas league, but that was over 5 or 6 years ago

    Allen Leavell
Went on to play in the CBA I believe after his NBA career was over. From what I vaguely remember, he physically choked a referee to show his protest for a call (and you thought Sprewell started that trend). I'm not sure if he served jail time for that or not, but I remember something about it going to court. Not sure what he's up to now. Here's some blurb about him with nothing of substance : http://www.webcom.com/ic_rep/95arts.html

    Purvis Short
Saw him at a Stop and Go on Fondren about 4 years ago. He was working with Leon Smith trying to get his life back in line again. From what I hear, he contributes a lot of his time to charities. I found out he's the "Director of Player Programs" for the NBA Players Assocation.

    Dave Jamerson
The most recent article I found says he's an ordained minister. Here's a real interesting article on him that says former Rocket/Spur David Wood practically saved him from the NBA lifestyle : http://thepost.baker.ohiou.edu/archives2/101599/st04.html

hey, go bid on his autographed card :

Currently playing overseas for some Greek team. Averaging 13.8 ppg, 1.2 steals, 48.6 FG% on 2's, 36% on 3's, and 32.8 mins per game. It's about his 4th team in 4 years. Has had solid scoring stats for all 4 teams.

    David Wood
Last played for a Spanish team overseas during the 98-99 season. His stats : 14 ppg, 58% FG% on 2's, 40% on 3's, but has only played in about 4 games. Also see article above on Dave Jamerson.

    Buck Johnson
    Playing in Greece. In 22 games, averaging 15.5 ppg, 8.3 rebs, 53.5 FG% on 2's, 29.2 3P%, and 88.3% FT'S??!!

    Rodney McCray
Not sure where he is now. I know he ended up in Chicago for a while. His jersey was retired by Louisville a while back.

    John Turner
He's playing overseas for an Italian team. His stats : 12.5 ppg, 7.2 rebs, 47.1 FG% on 2's.

    Cedric Maxwell
I think Bobo Finn answered this one

    Richard Petruska
    Playing overseas for a Spanish team. Stats : 7.1 ppg, 5.1 rebs, 57.5 FG% on 2's.

    Harold Minor
    Not sure
