I was watching ESPN News and they were showing the stats from a baseball game. I started listening to the background music and it sounded just like the Hardy Boys theme. In fact, I downloaded the theme to make sure, and I'm pretty sure it was the same. Does this mean anything? Will Monday Night Raw change to ESPN? I guess maybe the WWE doesn't own the theme and maybe ESPN bought rights to it too. *Edit* If you want to try and catch it, watch ESPN News and listen during the Jets-Steelers stat screen. I caught it there too.
WWE has an exclusive TV deal with the Viacom networks for the next few years. I have noticed at Minute Maid Park that they occasionally play the Undertaker's theme among others. It could be a royalty type of deal. But you never know...maybe we should start a rumor that Vince will make WCW a separate promotion airing on ESPN and ABC, with the Hardys being one of the groups to defect to WCW.
If it is the song from Limp Bizkit(SP?), I could understand that. But that Hardy Boys theme is just a regular song, like most others.(I could be wrong.) I also like your theory. Knowing Vince, that is probably his plan. Then maybe wrestling could get more sports stars in there shows. That would be pretty interesting. I bet many would watch an Anna Kournikova(SP?) vs Trish Stratus bra and panties match. I know I would. Gosh I hope your right.
I was actually being sarcastic. I don't see ABC/ESPN, owned by Disney, allowing WWE to do what their programs do on their network. Fox may be a different story though. But the agreement with Viacom will take precedence. I wish that weren't the case, I've been wanting a separate WCW ever since Vince bought it. In any event, the music is probably licensed from Smackdown Records, the music arm of WWE.
I don't care if you were sarcastic, which I thought may be so, I want that to happend. Seriously, who wouldn't want to watch the match in my above post. Or how about Karl Malone in a Harcore match against the Big Show? Malone does have some wrestling exp. We could also have Shaq go against the Big Show. The possiblities are endless.
I agree that it would be great for the industry. Karl Malone makes his return to WCW. Sadly I don't think it will be possible. But I think that Vince is trying to work out a way to get 2 more 2 hour TV blocks a week for a couple of WCW shows a week. In time it will happen. The roster split can't go on forever and they've spent way too much money in building up their young talent to just release them all.
actually its probably just a public domain song that anyone can use. WCW used to use public domain songs ALL the time. ESPN used to use Chris Jericho's WCW music all the time when giving scores and crap like that.
World Wrestling Entertainment. They got it changed because the World Wildlife Fund, or something like that, had it first. The two had agreed, I think, that Vince could use it in America, but now wrestling has gone global. So the WWF had to change.
I think alot of players actually watch wrestling and like the intros of the wrestlers. I think individual players will request wrestler's music.
It's already happened. I have seen various Astros be announced to themes for The Undertaker, Edge, and Jericho.
Hmm... sports are using WWE themes a lot more than I thought. What does this mean? A Jeff Bagwell vs Buff Bagwell match. I'm going for Jeff in this one. BTW, anyone remember Jeff and Moises at the Wrestlemania in Houston a year or 2 ago? Just more reasons for a unification.
Giambi goes up to one, atleast I was told it was one. I dont know what it is, very weird it has some sort of dog howl in the beginning.
