Republican traitor! The Bryan/College Station Eagle betrays the republican party. They should have kept going with the republican endorsements.

    THANK YOU GAWD!

finally, someone in the college station/Bryan area has a brain! I'm an aggie currently attending A&M, and I can't believe how much non-sense and hatred I've seen on campus .. I mean, it's sad that people this young cling to the hatred and hardcore "conservative" views beaten into their brains by their parents. Heck, during the preparation for last weekend's football game, we had a guy with a microphone screaming random lies about "the socialist" Obama.. it's so sad..

what's hilarious is that those young "conservatives" get wasted and indulge in unsafe sexual acts more than anyone else, yet they're supposedly conservative and they "bleed maroon, vote red" .. which is dumb, because I bleed maroon, but I vote for the right guy.. I've seen a funny but offensive Tshirt, turning the A&M-UT rivalry into politics, it said "Obama, keep you ass in Austin, they need another tight end", and I thought it was really unfortunate..

it's a shame that such a great place as A&M is ruined by the close-mindedness of those individuals.. Makes me a little embarrassed. Despite the great loving atmosphere and the "brotherhood" we establish, the stupidity and rigid minds of those people never cease to amaze me..

people are starting to think. just because you have a history of voting republican, doesnt mean you should vote republican every time. just because your friends or parents are republican doesnt mean you have to be....

Yep. Any conservative paper that endorses Obama is "in the tank" for him. Or at least they are viewed through red colored glasses.

Last week I mentioned to conservative aquantance that the Chronicle had endorsed Obama. He rolled his eyes and said sarcastically "well there's a shocker." As if the Chron was some liberal rag when in reality it hadn't endorsed a Democrat for president since LBJ.

I was surprised to learn Harris County hasn't voted for a Democrat since LBJ as well. And Obama is expected to win!

that's why a lot of us were trying to convince you that a&m would be a less tolerant campus than texas. but it sounds like you've made a successful transition and kept your wits about you, so here's a toast to a sensible aggie (yourself) and a brave editor.

haha thanks man. and I definitely understand what you're saying the about UT/A&M difference...basically, it all came down to the money for me, and considering that I'm a minority (and A&M is 87% white lol), they were willing to offer me a full ride compared to Texas' "half-ride".. another plus is how close A&M is to home, and since my cultural background emphasizes family relations, it's far more convenient to drive home from CS (75 minutes) than Austin.. and overall, I love the campus, love the tradition, and most importantly, I think the education is just as great as UT (they're always ranked very close to each other), so that's how I made my decision..

as for the Tech game, I was there, and I saw those stupid "BTHO Obama" shirts. But what annoyed me even more is the old fat man near the MSC with his microphone screaming random stuff about socialist and spreading the wealth around and "if you wanna keep yer money, vote MccaIN Pailen" (in his lil special accent) .. I wanted to go over to him and tell him "don't you have better things to do than to hold a mic and scream a bunch of lies on a great football Saturday?", but my friend talked me out of it..

by the way guys, you would be surprised how many liberals I've met there.. the politically crazy people are only a slight majority, but there are a bunch of people that come from different backgrounds and are very nice/tolerant, but unfortunately the actions/behaviors of the 'tards overshadow any positive things..

    LOL, that line is funny.........

the rest of your post sucks.

basically, you think if someone is voting for McCain they are narrow-minded and dumb.

maybe people actually believe McCain is the right person for the job.

If that's the case, then great.

Last night, I was at a baby shower loaded with Aggies. Not kidding. it was a costume party where some thought it would be funny to wear UT gear as their costumes.

I was in the garage getting a beer during a political conversation. Here's a sample of what I heard...

    "He's a Muslim."
"He wants to get rid of the public education system."
"He wants to lose the war."

I just walked away (mostly because i was greatly outnumbered). I wanted to tell them that they are free to chose who they want. However, do it because you've educated yourself on the issues and you feel that you're chosing the candiadate that you feel will do the best job for our country. Don't do it because your and uneducated moron who accepts lies as reality and regurgitates them like a bird feeds their chicks.

those people are idiots. I was at a gas station in New Orleans and overheard a couple of older black fellas discussing Obama......wow, were they misinformed.

    it works both ways.

I have asked alot of people, 'why are you supporting Obama?.....'

it's always the same answer......'we need change'

then I ask...."what kind of change is Obama going to bring?"

after the initial shock has worn off, (these people are in serious disbelief that I even question Obamas 'change' campaign) it's almost always the same answer.........'you really want more of the same? 8 years of failed policy?'

    talk about regurgitated.

you know what, I'm not one of those people, and whenever someone asks me "why do you support Obama?", I have a nice little 90 seconds speech that expresses his superiority in foreign policy, the economy, and some other issues using concrete details/statistics..

but let's think about it for a minute, let's consider the answer "you really want more of the same? 8 years of failed policy?" .. let's say you're a prisoner, and the prison people have been feeding you pig $h!t for 4 months, yes, pig feces, and nothing but pig feces the entire time.. after 4 months, they ask you, "we've decided to change your diet, but we're gonna give you a choice, would you like us to keep feeding you the pig feces, but this time from a different pig, or would you like to try something else?"

now, this something else could be cow feces, it could be dirt, it could be worms, but god knows nothing is worse than the pig $h!t you've been eating for 4 months..

This analogy is a bit gross, actually, it's extremely gross, but IMO it perfectly captures the political situation right now.. supporters of Obama/Biden are the ones who had enough with the pig feces and want something else, they want change, it will definitely be better, since there's absolutely nothing worse than the stuff we've had: the economy has hit rock bottom, I don't see any way it could get any worse, the wars started by warlord bush are not getting any better and they turned out to be disastrous.. McCain wants to continue what Bush has done, and let's hypothetically say that he doesn't want to, I still don't think he is able to change anything, since him/Palin don't really KNOW anything about anything..sorry, that's the truth..

now imagine how silly you and your fellow McCain supporters look right now.. you're the ones that chose the pig dung, and you're talking about how much firmer the crap from the new pig is gonna be and how its color will be a little different, you're going "eww, dirt is horrible, it's not good for your stomach, it gets stuck in your throat", but yet you're bailing for the same nasty pig stuff..

    think about it..
