I am not liking this talking point it is seeming like a dog whistle and I bet other players are picking up on it and looking side eyed at this organization. Who is gonna want to play here? Why is Timmy just now reporting this, why has Fiegen never talked about this?
I guess culture change is supposed to mean getting rid of Harden who has allegedly been the problem this whole time yet for some reason, not a peep from the organization for Harden’s entire tenure here until he wanted out, and they offered the problem a 2/103 extension and prayed he’d take it
Right... so you don't think Pop had a 'culture change' when he took over at SA for instance? Most players will want to play for a franchise with standards and accountability. Like in real jobs, these are essential for long term success, and players are paid handsomely for buying into a winning culture.
What's positive about airing it in public if its even something that needs changing. How does this get us closer to a championship? Why do you think its a positive?
Culture did not seem to be a problem until TF bought the team. And both Tad and Ra-fell were part of Rockets organization BEFORE Morey, before Harden, before D'Antoni. If anything, they are an integral and more lasting element to the older culture.
The OP has to be very young to ask this question. Many times companies go through Culture changes particularly when new upper management comes in. Essentially the workers have to adapt to what the new boss wants, in how things are run. That is what a culture change is.....Stone is coming in, and changing the way it has been done, to the way he thinks it should be done. And honestly, after reading all this stuff about Harden's freedoms....it is a THING that was desperately needed.... And something Tillman hinted at, which is probably more the reason Morey and D'Antoni left....because they didn't agree..... I don't like Tillman, but I do like that he recognized a rotten to the core culture....and is dealing with it. DD
Please! Did you just see what has happened to SA since Kwahi left because he did not like the culture. Do you like Pops "culture" now that he is in the lottery every year and has no light at the end of the tunnel? Do you see anybody flocking to play for for SA since they want standards and accountability? Players are paid handsomely regardless.
So the Rocket "culture change" is basically not allowing your franchise icon to have a say in basketball operations? THAT is good business? LMAO.
lol @ culture change. Lets see how this culture change is when the rockets suck for the next decade plus after harden is gone. "we suck but we're absolutely happy sucking" culture I can't wait to highlight it when the rockets struggle to have a winning record about culture
pfft. Like how trump is draining the swamp and is dealing with it. I hear empty promises all the time and I don't trust Tillman changing the core culture after offering/beggin Harden to say with a contact extension. To me, Tillman is lashing out with all these hit piece on harden and using culture change as an excuse for the fall out.
Dude I am older than you probably, I am old enough to know that the last "culture" change had to do with players having to wear suits while traveling instead of sweat suits. How has this rotten to the core culture been the 2nd best winning team in the west the last 5 years is Harden that good? It's no wonder why you are the joke going on 10 years of clutchfans. Must be young? Miss me with that.
Seems like a needed change. I wouldn't mind if we started fining James for showing up late and benching him for missing practicing time, etc. Sure, that'll drive down his value, but at some point you have to protect your team culture from eroding.
The culture change was to stop spoiling James Harden and actually play more team ball on both sides. Also, the culture change was letting Mike D'antoni and Morey walk. Mike's problem was that he never made adjustments and he never used the whole team. Mike would only play 7 to 8 guys in the playoffs and he did not allow the team take the mid range opportunities. Morey's only problem was that he didn't allow the team to stay together throughout the season. He did that every year except the CP3 hamstring year. Just imagine if he would've kept that team together that next year when everything was trying to go in our favor. That was the true problem outside of Harden not showing up in big moments.
Screw the media. The narrative will not favor us. If I have learned anything the last 4 years, it is to not always believe things in print.
OP asks a lot of questions etc that leave you scratching your head. Would make sense if he’s young (I hope)
