Stupid. Don't they already owe US future considerations?

    Why couldn't it be cash?

2nd rounders are too valuable these days...

Yeah... Dan Langhi, Tito Maddox, Terrence Morris! Where would the Rockets be without these guys?!?!?!? Cuttino was an freak, second rounders usually don't contribute THAT much. I think we'll survive.

With any luck, the second rounder will be given in the same year the Rocks win our next championship and when Chicago owes us its late first rounder or one of the two second rounders.

The Rockets are a very young team. We don't need anymore young talent. We need veterans and more time with our young talent to gel. A second round pick does not mean much in ANY case and certainly not for a team that is already very young.

    Wasn't Calvin Murphy a 2nd rounder?

HP put it best...having Gundy under contract for the next 6 weeks is much more important (both near and long term) to the Rockets success than a future second round pick.

Why do the Knicks owe us future considerations?

Because of the Rice trade. I believed that Rice was injured at the time, and the Knicks and Rox agreed to future considerations depending on how many games Rice plays in ... and some other stuff.

His contract expires at the end of July. I see no reason why the Rockets could not offer JVG the job starting August 1.

The 1st pick in the second round or 18th overall

Because JVG appears from the artical that he wants to coach summer league in July which means he would have to be signed by then.

Because someone could swoop in and offer him a monster contract before his expires, and it would be nice to get him in now so that he can talk to the players, tell them what they need to work on and what to expect. Besides losing the 2nd round pick isn't going to hurt, we don't need anymore young players we need veteran help, particularly veteran shooters.

I had heard on SportsRadio 610 that for compensation we would be playing an exhibition game in NY for the next four years. Guess that would actually be like paying them cash cause of the 4 sellouts they'll probably get from that.

I'll trade a 2nd round pick for a good coach any day. Given the Rockets draft performance the last few years, I'd even give them a 1st round pick. ;)

I'll bet NY fans are b****ing about getting only a 2nd round pick.

2nd round picks are way overrated. There are 29 guys picked every year in the second round, and maybe 3-4 of them have any meaningful impact. Our future pick should be late in the second round, which makes it even less valuable.

The fact is, the Mobley's and Arenas's are rare. It's not much to give up.

As far as the future condsiderations, I think the Knicks owed us 1 million if Rice didn't play in enough games.

Yeah, this team has enough young talent. Since a 2nd rounder doesn't have a guaranteed contract, I doubt we'd sign that person on anyway. No loss.

I hoped the knicks would ask the rockets to play 10 regular season games in NYC each year.

With the influx of international players, it would have been nice for the Rockets to move into the late 1st or very early 2nd rd. Its going to be a very, very talented player with lotto potential slide out of the 1st rd. This would havebeen ideal to move up to about 31-35th pick and give up a 2nd rd pick down the line. Recently, Marko Jaric,Arenas,Lewis,Redd and Ginobili have all been 2nd rd picks. The 2nd rd has become much better with the new crop of players. Next CBA, i'll bet the players association pushes for rookie guarantees for 2nd rd picks like in the 1st rd.

I don't think so. If you guarantee contracts for rookies, it means you push some vets out of the league. The vets pull more weight in the players union.

Why can't we be compensated for waived players? A second round pick for Maloney would've been fantastic.
