read the entire story here I'm kinda at a loss for words, I mean, glad he was 'into' his assignment, but he sorta took it a bit too far. He's lucky to be alive!
Hopefully this dimwit didn't endanger any armed forces more than they already are. I was a kid once - I was an idiot, too, so I guess I shouldn't talk, but man, this was just dumb.
as a journalist myself in college, you have to like the enthusiam and dedication towards the assignment....but this is going too far. he could have gotten killed. there isn't any amount of money, much less grade worth that.
the guy's an idiot but at least he learned something and I will give him credit for at least trying to do something worthwhile. If I had $900 to blow when I was sixteen and allowed to travel where I wanted I would've probably gone to Mazatlan to get drunk and chase tail.
Journalists are always trying to get shot at these days. That's how they get rich and famous, which is more important than reporting the news. This kid's got a jump on all his classmates.
I kind of thought the story was heartwarming in a weird sort of way. All's well that ends well, right? Regardless, any publicity is good publicity, and this WILL open some doors for him if continues to pursue journalism.
This is exactly what I was thinking. I mean all those dealing with the news practically know his name and what he is willing to risk, I mean it was bad for him to go through with it but it got him some major exposure.
if i had the cash, or have it. i wouldnt mind going to israel/palestine to check out the situation first hand. this kids got some mad balls....
