His speechwriters need a new set of refrigerator magnets, I believe. Didn't hear speech. Hope it was good.
I thought it was a good speech (outside of the terror/WMD/911 references). But ya know that there what he says and then what he does. I have long since stopped believing a word he says. Can you blame me? http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?p=1988878#post1988878 - “Since September the 11th, we’ve followed a clear strategy to defeat the terrorists and protect our people. First, we are defending the homeland. We’ve strengthened our intelligence capabilities; we’ve trained more than 800,000 first responders; we have taken critical steps to protect our cities and borders and infrastructure.” [8/24/05] - “We’re making progress in defending the homeland.” [8/3/05] - “Of course, we’re doing everything we can to protect America. I wake up every day thinking about how best to protect America. That’s my job.” [10/1/04] - “In the United States, where the war begun, we will continue our vital work to protecting American people, by protecting our ports and borders and safeguarding infrastructure, preparing for the worst. I mentioned the first responders. I can’t tell you how pleased I am with the coordination now between the federal government, the state government, and local governments for preparing our homeland.” [1/22/04] - “We have a comprehensive strategy in place; we’re improving our homeland security and intelligence.” [7/30/05] - “I’ll continue to act to keep our people safe from harm and our future bright.” [6/18/05] - “We have been relentless, and we will continue to be relentless in our mission to secure the people of this country.” [3/3/05] - “We will continue our historic investments in homeland security to match the threats facing our country.” [3/3/05] - “We’ve strengthened protections for the homeland.” [10/31/04] - “We will continue to use all our nation’s assets to protect the American people. We will wage a comprehensive strategy to protect you.” [10/31/04] - “We’ve already done a lot. Take a good look at what has taken place since 9/11, and I think you’ll be — as a citizen, concerned about your own safety, I think you’ll be pleased.” [8/2/2004] - “We’re taking unprecedented measures to protect the American people here at home.” [3/2/04]
Very good speech, I think he addressed some 'touchy' issues that I think we would all benefit from having an honest public debate about. By far his best speech to date (I know, not much competition from his earlier ones)
Im tired of talk. Dont talk about it, be about it. I want to see results from these politicians now. A speech doesnt mean anything if thats all it is. The speech was nothing more than damage control in my eyes, I want to see things happen now. When I see the assistance coming to my family then I will grade him. Cant grade a speech unless the things that are said becomes truth. I will possibly be on my way to Mosul, Iraq next week so please pray for me people...
I missed the speech but read the transcript. It was a good speech but one that should've been delivered two weeks ago.
No kidding! What kind of (or)deal you got yourself into? Yes you are definitely in our prayer. I think this is the first ever for a Clutch BBS member to go to Iraq, yeah?
Yeah you're right we'll have to see how much action comes out of this speech. Stay safe in Mosul. I've got a friend who's supposed to be going there too as a sub for KBR.
It Network Tech for KBR. My family is really giving me beef right now though. I been in processing for KBR all week. Past all my test and just have to go through a few more security breifings. If all goes right then i'll be flying out next week.
One of the first things my friend did when he found out he might be going to Iraq was buy his own flak jacket. I don't know the brand he got but I believe it was one of those composite ceramic ones. It cost like a grand but he said its far better than the one that would be issued to him.
I cant afford one now (the reason why I want to go) but in a few months I should be straight. Thanks for the well wishes fella's (wnes).
