I have never witnessed such blatent fouling on any player in the NBA as I did tonight in the Spurs V Rockets game in San Antonio.
The Refs took no notice to the mauling of Yao Ming, at least 50 times worthy of a foul being called. If this situation is alowed to continue then the idea of going to see the game will be turned into continued unsportmanly conduct, and not worth the price of the ticket.
The Refs must get the game under control from the outset, not just give into
street ball and rough house tactics. This is no surprise to me as I have seen Coach 'POP' use dirty tactics several times before. I know know that the Rockets are better than the Spurs because only dirty tactics won them the game:p

This probably could have gone into the post-game thread, but...

I can understand if they call fewer fouls on guys trying to guard Yao- it's been that way for big men for some time. Shaq was fouled without getting calls all the time. Yao's just stepping into his spot as the dominant big man, so he's going to get the same treatment (or maybe worse).

But what I can't understand is zero free throws tonight??!? In 39 minutes? While taking 16 shots? Really?

    That was just mind boggling.

Adelman should have picked up a tech somewhere in there or something. Or at least he should have had a postgame tirade and gotten a fine or something. I know he's not a fiery guy, but come on, you have to get Yao's back in these situations.

    Exactly

thats where you could always count on JVG, not that it ever helped get any respect for Yao (for more than maybe the next game) ...but at least he would stick up for his players.

Yao is getting treated like a joke, and somethings gotta be done.

With JVG gone, Yao should man up and complain about it to the media!

Yao, you make millions and hundreds thousand fine to you should be peanuts, you should stay up and defense yourself, dont always depends on others, like SF3, JVG etc. You should fight like man on and off the court for your own and rockets' sake, god damn it!

People say it doesn't matter how a game is called, as long as its called both ways.

Tonights game shows you how that is not true. It was a UFC match the whole way, with neither Duncan nor Yao getting any calls on the block.

    Somebody's gonna get hurt...

    OH hogwash !!

I was dying for JVG to yell at the refs last year, and every year he was here, he rarely said anything to them at all.

I am hoping Adelman sticks up for his players with the refs.......

are you out of your mind? it's not like he took a $100,000 fine in defense of yao or anything like that. out of the criticisms that you could make on jvg, not sticking up for his players is up there with, "doesn't coach defense" as the absolute funniest. you're blind disdain for jvg is just comical.

van gundy picks his spots and from what i can tell with adelman it's about the same. rudy was more of an animated referee whiner but i didn't notice a big difference in calls when he was here either.

as for the game yesterday, it was just brutal. the spurs where technically in the penalty after about 5 plays every quarter if the refs did their job. the play where they tackle yao then call a kick ball on him should absolutely get some people fired, but of course stern could give a f#$k.
