Man, figure I'd post about this to blow off some steam. I'm pissed.

As some of you may have read about here, I had a wreck a couple of weeks ago involving 2 other pick ups. Some dude rear ended my truck while I and the guy in front of me were at a stand still, causing me to rear end the other guy's truck. (should have known someone would qoute that....) (he hit me around 50mph IIRC). http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=175187&highlight=Wreck

Anyways, I've been calling up Henderson PD for the last few days trying to find out when the police report was going to be done. They said friday (last week). I double checked on the phone and it wasn't. Then they said monday. I double checked today, before I drive 40+min up there to get it. The lady said it's complete. So I'm off of work to go pick this thing up. End up driving through some of the worst rain I've ever driven through. (in a crappy rental from enterprise that was all over the place in the water).

I get there roughly an hour or so later. The lady at the window is the one I was talking to on the phone. I told her my name, and she said she had my report right there for me. Then I was told I have to have exact change to pay for the police report, so I went to the nearest place that was a whataburger to break a $20, cause I needed a $5.

I return to the PD with my $5, and then the lady asks if I live in Henderson. I said no, I drove up from Nacogdoches like I said on the phone. She then tells me she thought my report was done, and it appears it isn't......

I begin to fume over this. Seriously. My heart was pounding 90-100 beats a minute because of the drive, I was stressed to hell. And then now....after she said she had it there.....she tells me it's not there.

I'm sooooo damn pissed off. I was the better person, and left in a nice and quiet manner.....I didn't want to spend the night at the PD.

Also, that lady almost didn't even take my money. I thought about it as I was walking out of the front door that I hadn't paid. I was like, wonder if it'll be free since she screwed me....then I thought....watch her not fax it because I didn't pay (which she never asked me to) and say I have to drive up some time in the future to pay.

So I turned around and said don't I need to pay and she was like oh ya....blah blah blah.

I hate stupid people. I hate people who don't tell the truth.....

So pissed off, glad I made it home with out crashing with how pissed and stressed I am.

My wreck happend on the 3rd of October. And I don't have the police report yet to do anything with the insurance companies.

Bureaucrats all over the place are like this - mediocre people doing mediocre work.

If you don't do your job at McDonald's, say you never cook the fries on time, then you get fired.

If you don't do your job at the PD/DMV/Financial Aid Office/etc., then ... well, who cares? You still get paid no matter how poorly you treat your customers.

Sorry to hear about that man... I work around Henderson but haven't had a run in with the PD there and hopefully never do. Haven't heard good things at all.

I am so completely in agreement with you on this. Police departments, government offices, etc. - they have almost no accountability whatsoever to external individuals (customers, guests, whatever you call us). And I've dealt with so much lying and incompetence from some of those offices over the past 20+ years that it's really sad. Mind you, I know some of you work in these offices and I'm sure you're not the problem, but we consumers have had to deal with this crap for a long, long time.

Bottom line, though, is that all places, even government offices, do have supervisors. I can't tell you how many times I've gotten things done- and done faster- by asking to speak to a supervisor, even in places like that. Creditors, government offices- even though they feel they're not accountable, no supervisor likes to be bothered with someone complaining because one of their employees made a mistake. So, if you have time, I would call or write and make a complaint- maybe nothing will happen, but you never know. But make sure you do when you're calm, and make sure that you "word" your complaint as pleasantly as possible. You know, like "I am disappointed in this situation, but I know that you can certainly assist me in fixing this matter, and I sincerely thank you for your generous time and cooperation," as opposed to "The people in your department s**k- where did they graduate from, Dips**t Tech? I am so pissed at your department- you better fix this right f**kin now or else!"

Thanks man, I think I might send an email their way. If it was something local I wouldn't sweat it. But having to drive so far, and also being told not once...but twice, once on the phone, and once face to face...that she had my file is what angered me. (having to go break my 20 and come back)....

There will be like 20 people in line and you can see some of them just walkin' around behind the counter or takin thier slow ass time.

That sucks man, but I will say its pretty standard for polic reports to take about a month to get done and turned in. When my truck got stolen, it took 3 weeks to get the police report faxed to the insurance company.

I'm still confused why the hell you have to drive to henderson to get this? Why can't they either mail or fax it?
