Kinda spooky that the Orlando Magics have their own version of TV analyst Calvin Murphy also ! ... Orlando Magic TV analyst Givens arrested on sexual battery charge Accusation involves 14-year-old girl who was receiving basketball lesson ORLANDO, Fla. - Jack "Goose" Givens, the Orlando Magic’s television color analyst the past 15 seasons, has been arrested and charged with sexual battery on a minor and lewd molestation on a minor, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department. Jack "Goose" Givens is taken into custody of the Orange County Sheriff's Department late Monday. Image from WKMG Local 6 News. He was released this morning after spending a night in the Orange County jail. According to a sheriff’s department statement released late Monday, Givens, 47, assaulted a 14-year-old Windermere girl three times on June 18 following a basketball lesson. "The alleged incident occurred after the basketball lesson," Orange County Sheriff’s Department Cpl. Carlos Torres said. "The victim then contacted the sheriff’s office on June 23 to inform of the alleged crime. The incident has been under investigation by Orange County sex crimes investigators." Torres also confirmed that a search warrant was executed at Givens’ Windermere home late Monday night. Givens was then taken in for questioning and ultimately charged. Givens, after being released around 7 a.m. today, told FLORIDA TODAY news partner WKMG Local 6, "These are very serious allegations ... In the next couple of days, I hope this can be put to rest." Givens maintained his innocence, saying he feels he should apologize to someone but "I just don't know what to apologize for." According to the girl's accusations, Givens exposed himself and asked the girl to touch him on three occasions. Sheriff's officials said the incidents occurred in a swimming pool and in a bedroom. Local 6 News reported that a computer was confiscated from Givens' home. Givens' arrest comes one week after his inaugural charity golf tournament that helped raise thousands of dollars for children. Givens has been with the Magic since their inception 15 years ago, working alongside of partner David Steele the last six seasons on television. In addition to his broadcasting duties, Givens has become one of Central Florida’s most successful celebrity pitchmen. Givens is most known in athletic circles for his 41-point performance for the University of Kentucky in the 1978 NCAA title game. That effort was just three points short of the all-time NCAA record for a title game. He was a first-round pick of the Atlanta Hawks, but lasted just one season in the NBA. He has worked for Turner Sports, NBC, ESPN, Jefferson-Pilot Productions, USA Network and Host Communications. Givens is married and has two teenaged children. - John Denton, FLORIDA TODAY and WKMG Local 6 bizzaro world
