Outscored by 28 in 2nd quarter. Already into garbage time, third quarter of a playoff game. Wasnt Indiana supposedly one of the more likely teams to make an upset? Way to go.
The Pacers are Garbage. Bottom line- they typify the worst cliches of the East. J P.S. I just came from a trip to IN, and I can testify that even their home state can't stand them.
Well, the Pacers had the best record in the league last year, and probably would have won the title if O'Neal hadn't gone down against Detroit. This year, though, without Ron and with O'Neal and Tinsley ailing, they're left with a team of sold role-players and a makeshift backcourt. When they play with intensity, they're pretty good - when the don't, they're pretty bad. Notice that they've been struggling since O'Neal came back? They could have had homecourt advantage if they beat Orlando. I'm thinking Ewing theory here.
I don't think you could be more wrong. The state of Indiana LIVES for basketball. Of course there are people that don't like the sport, or are just not Pacer fans in the state...maybe you met some of them.
B.S. I grew up there and live in Boston now. My wife is from Houston. Having been in all three places a lot, the level of passion for the game of basketball is higher in Indiana than anywhere I've ever been. Little old ladies in grocery stores will strike up a conversation about the Pacers if they see you're wearing a Pacer's hat.
one game does not equal a fold. Boston's bench is better because Indiana's bench is depleted by the fact that Jackson and Johnson start, Bender (who was supposed to replace AL Harrington) is out for the year, and Pollard as well as Jeff Foster have been hurt. The outlook isn't bright, but the trash-talking that the Celtics did in game one might bite them in the ass tonight.
Whether or not the Pacers show up to play or fired up because of the Celtics "trash talk", they're not going to go far in the playoffs with their guard play. Eddie Gill? Anthony Johnson? Those guys wouldn't be in the rotation of almost any other playoff team. They advanced last year because Tinsley is much better than Johnson, and Artest could defend any opposing guard.
The Pacers are one of the most overhyped teams out there. Losing Artest seems to have taken a big part of their spark away. Maybe they'll be better next season with him back, although then they'll be missing their big-game shooter. I mean, getting lit up by LaFrentz? Ricky Davis? Getting destroyed in a game in which the opponent's best player shot 2 for 11 can't help confidence.
i dont know why, but i despise the celtics ...there isn't one player on their team that i come close to liking or respecting OMFG!!!!! that flop by Miller ....WORST FLOP OF ALL TIME!!!!!!!!!1 i love Reggie
I'm from Indy and they are CRAZY about the Pacers. It's probably the only NFL/NBA city where the NBA team is more popular than the NFL team. The winner of this series will get pummeled by Detroit in Round 2. For most NBA fans, I guess this is the least interesting round 1 matchup.
nice call. If you noticed nothing about a team who lost more player-games to suspension and injury than any team in sports history, I would have thought you might have noticed how they deal with adversity. They suck it up and play hard.
he needs to stay one more year!!! just one! about the pacers folding..... they owned the celtics last night.
Could people imagine if Houston had a young Reggie right now? with TMAC and Yao drawing double team all the time, he would be hitting 10 3s a night.
I'm still waiting for the Hoosier throngs to come in and tell the world about how much they hate their Pacers.
