Title. We all know that he wants to go to a large market team the offseason after next. Meaning he could potentially be in a Melo-like situation next season. I think we have the assets to get a deal done (multiple 1st rounders, a very good young PG in Lowry, a young big like Hill or Postman Pat, maybe a wing like TWill or Lee. Not saying I'd give all but a star like CP3 won't be cheap, even as a rental and probably require multiple pieces of the above mentioned talent). Would it be worth giving up a major package to bring in a star like him and convince him to stay? A team comprised of CP3/Martin/Scola can be potentially deadly and very difficult to beat (especially if we bring back Adelman to coach the squad). Any thoughts?
Why on earth would you give up lowry right now for a rental? I think it's too late for CP suitors. The other stars have been inside his head and he's ready to follow them, if things don't work out in NO. He may go even if they do work out. The Landry trade certainly helped them.
If someone is set on playing/living somewhere , it is hard to keep CP3 to stay in Houston. The talks of Amare/Melo/CP3 are more than just rumors. Players are getting more and more say in the future of the NBA than ever before. Players are almost running Franchises , not the owners or GM's.
why are you going to worry about this concept when it won't happen at all?? its not going to happen man!
Are you really comparing CP to Lowry? CP is 1 of the best point guards in the league. Any team who wants to contend for a title would rather get CP then Kyle Lowry.
Paul isn't happening. We saw it with both Melo and Deron Williams this season... Teams aren't going to trade their superstars to another team in their conference when they have the chance to move him to the opposite conference. Deron Williams is the guy Morey needs to take a chance on next season.
while the answer is yes we should make a run for paul. However, since the league owns the hornets, it will not be an easy task. There will be a ton of problems in getting a deal done. Cuban was already crying when they landed landry.
Can we wait until the new CBA is announced before discussing this? There is a good chance that there will be no season next year. Taking Paul before the draft could be like giving up assets for only his bird rights. That's worse than a rental.
Its a gamble I think Morey would take IF he thinks Chris Paul's health can hold up for 5 more seasons. I have serious worries about this guys knees. In the end though, if his health is there, I would have to believe that the money will win if the Rockets played hardball and didn't allow a sign and trade(if its even allowed under the new CBA) The Rockets have as good of a shot at CP3 as anyone, except New Orleans who should have a better shot at keeping him with the new CBA, whatever it proposes. Everyone seems to think that Paul has his eyes set on New York, but there are concerns there from New York's standpoint financially being able to fit him in the salary cap and the success they have with Billups. If CP3 wants to come to New York then its very likely he will have to take alot less.... I mean ALOT. It would make sense, from NY's standpoint to use what little cap space they will have to search for a quality big. With Melo and Amare being two players who need to have the ball in their hands, I cant think of a better fit at PG than Billups. If NY just wants to have three superstars just for the sake of having three superstars then they will do it, but it doesn't mean it would make them a better basketball team.
