Contract talks between Jackson and The Lakers have stalled. If Kobe bolts for the Clippers, Phil just might sense the impending doom and not re-sign with LA. We all know three things.

    1) a contract between an NBA team and a coach is worth nothing

    2) Phil Jackson has a knack for taking ready made coaching situations.

    3) Phil Jackson has been well respected by all his players

...a lot of hypotheticals have to be worked out, of course, but it's still an interesting proposition.

    No.

I don't want the triangle. I don't think Phil could get these guys to play the way they are supposed to, despite all his hype.

And oh yeah, he's a jackass.

    Hell Yes!

Who are you people voting no? What are you smokin'?

Phil would be perfect for Yao, and the triangle is perfect for him, too. Phil = rings. Hella better than grumpy.

Well, if Phil Jackson wants to coach the Rockets I think you take him. Like him or not. He's got a proven track record. There have been a lot of Shaqs, Kobes, jordans, and Pippens who never won the title regardless of how good they were. And right now, you could put Yao and Francis as two great players who never won. So you take him. But we can win with Van Gundy too.

The same thing every other team has done when they fired a coach...

No thank you, we don't need Phil Jackson. Screw the triangle, all Phil Jackson has done the last few years is basically let Shaq and Kobe and others step up and take the team. Notice when there are injuries how the Lakers just seem to sag and go no where? Other teams like Minnesota and Sacramento play well through injuries, the Lakers are basically in the mode of "we have to wait until we get healthy", and Phil Jackson does nothing to change that. Not only that, Jackson is up there in age, and no telling how much longer he wants to coach, especially considering Tex Winter is the architect of the triangle offense and he's pushing 80 and retiring.

He owes the rings to Kobe and Shaq. I will start watching the Mavericks if we hire Phil Jackson and I believe 1/2 of the fans will do the same thing

I would seriously consider rooting for another team if Jackass Jackson became our coach. I love how people talk about how he won all these championships (thank you MJ, Kobe & Shaq) but never mention how he had the chance to coach the Grizzlies when they were still in Vancouver but turned it down because they sucked and weren't "championship ready".

He reeks of an opportunist with an enormous ego.

Absolutely, and that's no disrespect to Van Gundy. Jackson is one of the top 2 or 3 coaches in the game. It baffles me how people ignore the man's 9 championships as a head coach. Yeah he had Michael, Shaq, and Kobe during those championships, but one has to be fair and recognize that both the Bulls and Lakers never got to the top of the mountain before Jackson's arrival and reached the top of the mountain the first year of Jackson's arrival and I don't believe you can chalk both instances up to coincidence, but feel free to hate away.

Wow, I never knew it would be so one sided...good think I didn't ask if the Rockets should hire Bill Walton as a color analyst.

There is only ONE guy out there I would rather have than Van Gundy: Rick Adelman. He doesn't get nowhere near the credit he deserves, and he certainly knows how to build an offense around big men. And right now, with our current roster, Van Gundy is the only one out there with any hopes of making dumb and dumber get it.

Trade the backcourt and I'm all for Adelman.

Can't stand Jackson either. Never did.

Yes, but not right now. Van Gundy (whom I love, by the way) will leave in 3 years after burn-out. At the point Yao will be entering his prime and Jackson will be retired. We'll lure him out of retirment and then, presto!, championship.

You have to go after the guy if he is interested in coaching the Rockets, regardless you like his personality.

MJ wasn't considered one of the best before the Bulls title run, S. Pippen was average at the best when Jackson took over the Bulls; the Lakers didn't do much with the same set of players. Do anyone still remember the predication from the media when Jackson took over the Lakers? Everyone was waiting for him to fail, but he brought them THREE titles in three years, instead.

Didn't MJ & Shaq stated they'll retire if PJ was leaving? I don't remember I have ever heard the similar statement from any other star athlets! The guy has the altmost respect from his players. Francis & Mobley will absolutely follow whatever way PJ wants them to play.

It's laughable to put JVG in the same sentence with PJ. The MJ-less Bulls should have defeated the full strength Knicks if the refs didn't reward the Knicks with THREE(3) FT at the end of the that playoff game.

Are you talking about the same Adelman who was fired by the Warriors after his miserable coaching there? Or the Adelman who couldn't win the BIG one with the Portland team many considered the best team in the league during early 90s'?
