There are a couple of heated debates about the Carlos Boozer situation in the NBA Dish section. Should he take the money And Boozer Speaks I don't want to rehash the arguments in this thread. I just want to know from all us Rocket fans is whether you would want him on our beloved team. Personally, I don't really care about the particulars of the deal with the Cavs, if he can help the Rockets, then yes. It will be interesting to see what people think about it. Thanks, DD
This means even with a tainted reputation as some have said he has now. MY thinking is that all of this will not matter in one year to people outside of Clevland. DD
This is going to be a lopsided poll because we wouldn't be the ones getting screwed. Go ask Utah fans this same question, and it will be a resounding "yes". Go ask Cleveland fans if they would take him back if Cleveland could match. I would bet you get ALOT more "nos". Some fans believe in the integrity of their players, especially, when that integrity screws their team over.
Yes, without a doubt. This was one of the top rebounders in the league (5th over all at 11.4 boards a game) last year in only his second year. We're talking about a guy that is going to get you 11+ boards a night for a very long time. Give the man a contract and a pen. His 15.5 points a game weren't too shabby either. The potential for Boozer to become a perennial all star is there.
I'm waiting to see all the facts come out on this. Boozer has taken a huge beating in the press, since Cleveland has done all the mud-slinging. Cleveland feels slimy to me in this whole deal. Now Boozer is finally starting to speak up. I'm still not convinced that Boozer is all about the money. But, we'll see. Character does matter, and until I knew what really happened, I couldn't make that determination.
If he only asks for what MoTay makes, I will take him anytime. But I think to sign him more than 10mil is bit too much
Not what I am trying to prove here. I am trying to discren whether his reputation is permanently harmed by his suppossed actions. DD
Let me ask you a question. If you were Utah, and it came time to renegotiate Boozer's contract or resign him, do you think they will remember what happened with Cleveland?? If they do remember, will it affect the way they negotiate with him??? If the answer is yes, then absolutely his reputation is permanently harmed by his actions.
Boozer isn't the one who is gonna pay a price for what he did. It will be other players in future negotiations, especially those players with little leverage like 2nd round picks.
Don't ever believe that players have no leverage. The player has tons of leverage, especially budding star players like Boozer. DD
Not when they are signed to contracts, like Boozer was (i.e. the next player who is making $700K and asks their team to not pick up their option year so he can gain financial security earlier will be S.OL.).
You are correct sir...and I believe that the Cavs are the first team to do this......I wonder why? Maybe because other teams weren't that stupid? DD
I would take him because he is a good player. But I wouldn’t want to have to negotiate with him if he were a FA. He definitely screwed over the Cavs.
I said "little" not "no." To some negotiators good faith means something. Between Weisbrod and Boozer this has been a very interesting offseason.
I take him in a heartbeat. Boozer did nothing wrong to harm his reputation, imo. There is no telling who said what, unless there is a recording of the conversation between Boozer and management. Until that comes about, its one word against another.
