    Yes

Yao sucks, but most other centers suck more.

Who else is there? As I've said before: Yao is bound to become the most dominant (not best) big man in the league by default, simply because big men don't play like him anymore in this league, so ont exactly an 'accomplishment' or anything. The future of "big men" are the Amares and the Dwight Howards and the Brad Millers of the league, and I believe as the years elapse and the game keeps moving away from the 'big man' game, Yao will have more and more trouble keeping up due to his slowness.

I still like Yao, but we'll have to build a supporting cast around him that's at least as solid as the Spurs' if we're to compete for a championship.

yeah, he's still better than the other so called C's out west. and no tim duncan isn't listed as center, because if he was he would easily be picked over yao, even though i hate the spurs.

Yao is a good player, but I will be more than happy if he not making an all-star this year. Because he will show us something in second-half of season to prove he is a real all-star!!!!!

I dunno, Camby has been playing extraordinarily well, so its a tossup between loyalty and deservedness.

    Camby mile-high better this season

If NBA All-Star balloting was performance and statistics driven, as opposed to fan-based voting, Houston's Yao Ming would have a serious challenge for the starting spot on the Western Conference team from Denver's Marcus Camby.

Camby's early season numbers, particularly at home, are jaw dropping

In the Nuggets' first six home games this season Camby averaged a Bill Russell-like 20.2 points, 16.3 rebounds and 4.5 blocks. And lately, he's played just as well away from the Pepsi Center.

He followed up a 21-point, 21-rebound home effort vs. Memphis with 24 points, 14 rebounds and six blocks at Washington on Tuesday.

"He is tough," said Grizzlies forward Shane Battier, also an early candidate for the NBA most improved player award.

Camby, who was held out Friday against the Clippers for a bruised leg, said, "I'm just trying to focus on rebounding and blocking shots, and my teammates are doing a great job of finding me [on offense]."

They're also doing a great job of talking about Camby. Aspiring all-star forward Carmelo Anthony insists Camby should be an all-star.

"His game speaks for itself," Anthony said. "He's blocking shots, he's rebounding, basically holding us down on defense."

More than just sheer numbers, Camby is coming through in the clutch for a team hunting for a playoff bid.

Against Washington, Camby blocked Gilbert Arenas' 3-pointer at the buzzer and the Nuggets won 108-105.

"I don't think any big guy [in the NBA] is playing as well as he's playing," coach George Karl said. "He's had huge games for us. I have to hold back from playing him 48 minutes because I'd rather have him on the floor all the time."

He is probaly better then yao at this point. camby has allways been a great rebounder, the problem is that he is way to injury prone.i wish him the best though.

I can not find any reason not to vote Yao according to Yao's performance among the centers.

Forgot to add...Since when do votes for the All-Star team mean anything? If lil Yao was on the ballot, he would be voted in.

If I was objective, I would vote for Camby this year over Yao, but who're we kidding? Yao will start for AST.

BTW, Bill Walton (even when it has nothing to do with the Rockets) still likes to comment on Yao Ming every now and then.

Because if Camby beats Yao as an all-star starter this year playing in Toyota Center, Yao will play hard in second half of season, and out play camby everytime just like Yao play with Shaq before. As long as we can win a game, I don't care if yao is a best center or not!!!! But it is true that he cannot lead our team for a victory!!!!

Performance-wise, he is not bad among centers, maybe Camby is doing better than him now. But who can promise that Camby later on as the season progresses, and when the playoff starts? Besides, am I supposed to vote for a Denver center or a Rockets center? Maybe I should not ask this question here on a Rockets' board. TMac is hurt now, are we going to leave him out? Of course not, he's on OUR team, remember? If we don't support our team, our players, our coach; if we want to fire/trade our coach and players everyday, why the heck do we call ourselves Rockets fan? How do we justify this title we put on ourselves? It's not just a fashionable or cool thing to do, there is obligation coming with this claim. We are supposed to support the team, during good and bad time.

Yes, I will vote Yao, TMac, and DW, just like I won't tell my wife everyday that this and that movie star is more beautiful than she is. Not because I am blind or subjective or ignorant, simply because she's my wife. Can we say the same thing as a fan? Everytime, when I picture a true fan, I picture those soccer fans in English 2nd devision teams. They sing and cheer every game, no matter how bad their team plays.

How many here would trade Yao for some package of Camby, Watson, and Hodge or Camby, Nene, Hodge, and whatever?????
