Would you trade: JEFF VAN GUNDY for LARRY BROWN, Jeff Van Grumpy for Next Town Brown?

Remember the thunderous reception JVG received at PEw's uni retirement from MSG crowd? Their fans and Van Gun's hearts are one. They love each other and that $24 island.

LB, with the resume saying he's one of the all time great coaches, is part of the reviled basketball management team of the Knicksies, tuned out by his players and the press. And once upon a time, JVG's time, LB almost took on Stevie and Yao.

There is, of course, precedent for a managerial/coach type swap. Just 40 (very) odd years ago (1959) Frank 'Trader' Lane swapped his (Indians') manager, Joe Gordan for the Tigers' Jimmy Dykes.

NYK would p/u the salary differences, of course.

This is NOT a coach for a draft pick. This is not a would you like D'Antoni or Nine Ring Jax or Flip or Rick. The question is, 'Would you trade JVG for LB?' Would you?

I was never a fan of LB, never did like his wanderlust and his opportunism. Flip taking over in Detroit showed he was no miracle worker in Detroit and he has certainly underperformed some of his immediate predecesors in NY such as Wilkins, Chaney and Williams. He has more talent and unlimited budget and some good young players so he should have this team playing .500 ball if not contending for the playoffs. What a waste of $10M dollars, Dolan should do what the Raptors did and recognize that they made a mistake with Thomas and hire Colangelo and then dump LB as LB has dumped so many teams.

What can Brown do for you? Apparently, not a whole lot.

Another no, but for next season I'd take a Flip Saunders or maybe Don Nelson. Someone more offensive minded after the young guys have had defense pounded into them sufficiently.

No. He's somehow made the knicks worse than they were.

what he said. him leaving detroit proved he was under achieving.

coaches are either overrated or underrated.

LB is a better teacher than JVG but IMO he is even more controlling than him.
I feel that JVG wants to change the losing culture that has crept in for the last few years. I was concerned that he would leave the team like he did in New York and maybe he still will but I think he genuinely wants us to win.
I wouldn't trade him for LB.

Not sure, but if you extend JVG's contract 12 years, Isiah might.

i've been saying for most of the season, we need to get...

    RICK ADELMAN!!!

very successful coach...two trips to the finals with portland, much success with sacremento (but hopefully will be fired after this season?) and most of all...RUNS A GREAT OFFENSE UTILIZING THE SKILLS OF A PASSING BIG MAN *ahem*

Sheesh, and this from a Board replete with 94% JVG hatahs vs 1% supporters (with 5% semi-comatose) yet with a 'fantasy' op to bid adieu to him (and PEw) + get 'Mr Coach' screams No, Hell No, NoNoNo!
