If you would have asked me a month ago, I would have said "Are you freakin nuts?" Now that I've seen him in some summer league games and highlights, I'm not so sure. Lebron seems to have all the qualities to be the best player in the league. He has the vision to make his team better and I can't think of a more athletic player. The best way to describe him is a Magic Johnson in a Vince Carter body.

I'm not saying that I would trade Yao because I still believe he will be the best center in the league someday. However, from what I've seen of Lebron in the summer leagues, Lebron may become one of the best players to ever play the game. Lebron may even live up to the "hype".

    Would ya'll do it???

Even though LeBron is the greatest basketball player in the history of the world (if you watch Sportscenter), I'd say NO.

I'd rather have a great center than a great guard.

You don't trade talented big man for a talented guard. Yao will be a dominant force in the near future while Lebron will be another version of Kobe or T-mac.

You can't go wrong with either one. In general, I'd say no to a great C for a great G, but in this case since LeBron is so good, I'd have to think about it. LeBron will probably have a better career, but he doesn't fit out team, Yao is the man for us...so NO!

    ... It's gonna be a long summer...

    That being said, no.

Why is everyone insisting that LeBron's so great? I've heard people even going so far as saying that he's already a lock for the hall of fame. You really can't put so much stock in a few summer league performances. Boki just went off for 32 points against the Grizz, though most of us would rather see him riding the pine all season than backup Posey or (God forbid) start in Posey's place. Eddie destroyed the Summer Leagues. And yet a lot of posters would love to see him gone, with little or nothing in return.

And LeBron's defense (against SUMMER LEAGUERS) is horrible. And I don't mean 'pretty bad', horrible, I mean Bill Walton, 'worst pass in franchise history', horrrrible. Remember how J.R. Bremer lit up Francis? He just did the same thing to LeBron.

However, I do think he'll be a very good player in 2-3 years, probably even a top-five guard in the league. But Yao is a top five center right now, and in 2-3 years he might be the best center in the league. We already have projects in Boki, Griff, and Badiane. We already have a top-five PG in Steve Francis. And our starting center would be Kelvin Cato.

    I'll pass on that trade.

I vote 'no' for same reasons other posted. Just like in fantasy football or basketball, you choose the best running back or best center just because there aren't alot of them out there. The drop off to the next best center is more significant than the dropoff to the next best guard. So if I had a team that had Yao and the the 2nd best guard versus the team with Lebron and the 2nd best center, Yao's team would win.

UMMMM...LeBron is playin in the SUMMER LEAGUE, he hasnt touched a real NBA court. I feel bad for LeBron cause if he isnt GREAT he is the biggest bust of all time. He is being compared to Jordan and Kobe...well Kobe has 3 rings and Jordan has 6. Let LeBron get 1. Enough Said!

Yao is a 7'5" center with skill. James is a 6'8" point guard with skill. They will both be special.

Hrm... that's a really interesting question. Before I saw some clips of LeBron playing, my answer would have been no regardless. But his passing ability is so outstanding, and this is the cornerstone of what makes a great NBA player. Thanks to his athletic ability, his ceiling is probably higher than Yao's as well, and I'm a little leery of players much over 7' in terms of longevity and health. So I'm still very cautious about Yao when projecting our future.

If this all happened four years ago, coming away from the playoff runs, I'd probably do it. But we've spent so many years rebuilding that we need to win now, and we can't afford to weaken ourselves at another difficult position to fill if we want to win. But if a year goes by, and LeBron has an outstanding rookie campaign to show the promise that he has (and shows to be non-injury-prone), if they approached me with a trade then, I'd have to think long and hard about it.

But I don't think there's any way in hell the Cavs would do or even contemplate that trade.
