To reply to Hottoddie thread, I think alot of people here would rather keep Tmac than Yao and the thread shows it 75% NO. But, here's a trade that BOTH team would take a look at Would you trade Yao for Garnett? Imagine the Garnett/Tmac combo How far do you think we could go if Yao was putting up Garnett's # in the playoff? Something I think we see into Yao more than he really is. Imagine if Yao was non-chinese and was putting the #'s he is .... he would be traded easier and with lesser value.
It is all about expectations and impact nothing to do with him being Chinese...you see many see Yao has far more potential. They see him as 7'6" and not getting easy baskets...Most if his baskets are hard to come by....now, that is not to say that we are fair to Yao...I mean 19/9 are very good stats...but, I guess fans want to see Hakeem-esque numbers....24/10...with three blocks per.....
Interesting... TMac and KG are sort of similar players. I think TMac and Yao are a better complement than TMac + KG.
Come on, guys. Other than the fact that this thread is completely stupid and the author deserves to die by a thousand cuts, I don't see any problem with the thread. The question is legit and let's give him a break.
A friend of a friend is saying that a deal is in place for Luckyazn and Hottoddie for two RealGM posters and an ESPN message board lurker to be named later.
If we can afford KG with the insane money he is earning now, why not just get another Max player on side of Yao and TMac using the salary difference between Yao and KG? That can make us win it all for years to come! I just can't see KG and Tmac together would win as much.
Uhm.....I want some of what your smokin'.... Name me 20 players who average 19pts/9rbs/2blks per game in the current NBA rosters? I bet ya find it tough to do.. Yao has been consitently improving each year and he will bring a title to this city. If for no other reason then teams have to double and triple team him leaving T-Mac and cast wide open. Yao has the second highest field goal % in the league next to Shaq who is all dunks. I vote HELL NO!!!
No one can look and Garnett and Yao objectively and say they wouldn't rather have Garnett. Maybe if you're talking about building a team for the future, you would pass on KG because he's older. But if you're talking about winning a championship, particularly in the next couple of years, you take Garnett 11 out of 10 times. Or you're the biggest homer ever. Not that this deal has ever or will ever remotely be discussed. That is all.
Reasons I would do it: Garnett is a fantastic player with a lot of passion. The dude plays hard and doesn't make excuses. He's one of the top players in the game and could be the MVP during any given season. Reasons I would not do it: Yao is not an ordinary man. He is something very special. We've had tall players role through the NBA before, but none of this magnitude. Straight up, Yao changes the way the game is played and as soon as he gets the veteran label, he'll be a better, more impactful player than he is now. Overall: No, Yao's upside is to amazing to pass on. Plus, his contract will be smaller.
If it was possible to do a straight up Yao for KG swap, I'd consider it. Why would i shoot down a Tmac-for-KG swap and think about this one? See my post in the other thread. All I know is that there's a #32 in phoenix and as of right now, the only person that has a chance of neutralizing him is our own #11. And right now, I think Amare and his team will be in the thick of things with our Rockets for years to come.
Can not agree more, I hate to trade our rosters , espcailly our two super good friend stars. this kinds of thread should be deleted
Sounds to me like you strongly disagree with his statement that this is a legitimate question. Might wanna watch that.
