They're similar in size and stats but Fisher play PG and that'll make our guard rotation more balanced. with the signing of Anderson and Barry (plus Sura, Head, James, T-Mac can all back up the 2) we really don't need Wesley, even JVG admits it's a problem. Fisher is a true PG and had championship experience with Shaq/Kobe I think he's a better fit as our starting PG. we can even throw in Ward to creat an extra spot for the needed big man and the salary still matched. new rotation (with PT) will then looks like this: Yao Ming (34), Mutombo (10) S. Swift (34), Howard (18) McGrady (38), Sura (10) Anderson (30), Barry (18) D. Fisher (30), James (18) I think this is a much better/balanced rotation. I know Fisher has 4 yr left in his contract but this team is built to win it now and with Yao already re-signed it's really worth to make a trade that can take this team to the next level.
even if derek fisher had an expiring contract identical to wesley's i still probably wouldn't do the deal. as is fisher has an unbelievably terrible contract and isn't as good as bob sura who you somehow moved to ten minutes of backup sf.
I wouldn't want Fisher on this team for another 4 years. Plus i think Wesley is just as good and his chemistry fits the team well. We don't know how Fisher would react with a reduction of minutes. Our role players seem fine with it having a win first attitiude.
If fisher's contract wasn't so gynormous I wouldn't mind having him but it still doesn't help our situation at sf when we already have a glut of pg's and sg's if we're gonna trade wesley let's look for someone BIIIIGER!
I like Jim Jackson too but I'm not willing to give up wesley for the guy. But if the suns want moochie or ward for him... sure..... why not....
contract aside, i'd take fisher. he's more of a pg than wesley (i like wesley a lot). in terms of playing off the bench / less minutes, just think about g pattern when he was a faker.
now way Wesley plays so much harder than fisher ever would it would destroy our chemistry to trade him for someone like Fisher.
Not one-for-one. If we could get one of their young talented Fs or Gs for expiring contacts we should consider.
GOt money on that not being the PT no way Yao and Swift start out with 34 yao 30 -31 and Mcgrady will play like 42-45 min with 48 mostly the dude will play all the time.
No I wouldn't. Though if you throw in GS's 1st rounder in next year's draft - unprotected - I'd think about it.
yes....the Rockets window of opportunity is about to close with an all-star front line that averages a whopping 25 years of age someone please remind me, when does training camp open
In answer to this question I am torn between a "hell no" and a "**** no". This is seriously one of the worst propositions in a long time. 1st, I am not sure Fisher has any skills to offer we don’t already have in superior forms from our 5 vet guards (Sura, DA, MJ, DW, JB), and that is before the issue of getting to his contract. I’d rather give Sura, DA or MJ any minute of PG PT available that would go to Fisher. And if absolutely necc to keep him if he performs well for us this year, I’d rather resign MJ with EBR at around the full MLE next year as he is younger, better, quicker, tougher than Fisher at this point in their careers, and he would still be cheaper at that EBR price. Ditto with DA, who we could resign with our MLE if he has an excellent year for. Fisher at this point is a shorter, less versitle, version of DA OR an older, more broken down, less athletic, and less defensively capable version of Mike James.
