NJ is still looking for power forward, it is clear that Swift cannot help this rox team, would you trade Swift to NJ for draft picks or something else?

    http://www.nj.com/nets/ledger/index.ssf?/base/sports-0/1138774031308030.xml&coll=1

The Nets are searching for help on their front line, and while they might eventually part with both No. 1 draft picks to get a wide-body who would replace Collins, you get the impression he won't give up the job without a fight.

The problem is, even he now admits that the January schedule has become a grind.

"Especially that Seattle game," he said, referring to a game in which he had zero rebounds in 30 minutes. "I didn't have any legs, especially on those back-to-backs. I'm eager to see how I'm going to respond (tonight) against Cleveland. You try to get as much rest as you can, but ... I'm just eager to see how my legs respond."

And why doesn't he just take a night off?

"I did that the second night against Boston, mainly because of the Allen Iverson contusion," he said. "But if I feel I can help the team win, I'll do that."

Kidd admitted during the morning shootaround that he was experiencing pain in his left knee and right foot, but he claims that he "had it under control." He controlled it long enough to have one of his best games of the season last night.

Of course, 5-for-8 from downtown always makes you look good, especially when one clinches the game with 48 seconds left.

"I don't shy away from it," he said of the 3-point shot, which he is hitting at a career-best .367 clip, his best in seven years. "We were up one. I had the same shot in Portland and it doesn't go in. And tonight it does. That's how funny this game is. You gotta stay with it, and don't lose faith."

Jeff McInnis, who had knee surgery two weeks back, has started rehabbing with the miracle worker of Fort Lee, Matt Gibble of Excel, who worked wonders for Richard Jefferson's wrist and Jason Kidd's knee.

"The guy's great," McInnis said. "I'm in the pool right now -- I started yesterday. I'm getting back, slowly but surely. I'm going to finish on a good note. It's been shaky, but I have big plans. Things are going to work out. I'm going to finish a lot better than I started."

    "wide body to replace Collins"

I don't think Stromile fits that bill. Seems like they are looking for a banger type center down low.

i'd prefer to get a player for him. At this point i dont see how he can't be on the trade block, we already have someone taking his minutes.

Frankly this isn't a particularly strong draft, and i'd prefer to get a player. I'd like to send him to New Orleans where they are looking for someone to fill in birdman's minutes and someone who can play some center. I'd take Arvydas Majicaukas ( a barry replacement, deadly shooter) and JR smith.

Yes. Actually, I might want next year's picks. That team is built to crumble.

I still have hope for Swift but if we do trade him I hope it's for player and not draft picks, depth never hurts.

Hmmmm..upon reading that Chron article, I realized that JVG tends to give props to a certain player then suddenly ships them out...Jim Jaxson? MoTay? :p

If our intention is to give up on Swift and trade him somebody might want to remind JVG in order to build up a player's trade value you have to showcase him.

If Stromile were so valuable to the team, he'd be playing.

The Nets wanted to trade Marc Jackson and a #1 pick for Stromile. That was earlier in the season.

They aren't playing Jackson. We aren't playing Stro.

I wouldn't mind swapping Stro and our 2nd rounder for Jackson and the two first rounders the Nets are due (their own and Denver's).

If either of those first rounders falls into the lottery, we can owe them a future first, whatever condition you have to place on the pick.

Marc Jackson has only one year left on his contract, anyway, so if we're not crazy about him as a backup center, he can always be expiring-contract trade bait, if we want to make a move with our first rounders.

Swift needs a PG like Kidd to excel, he is a round peg in a square hole in JVG's structured offense.

Go see Glory Road, Swift needs to run....play to his strengths......he is not nor will he ever be a fundamental type of player.

I don't think Swift will fit on any winnning team. If he had a good PG like Kidd he would just fumble the ball away half the time after he receives a nice pass. Swift is a very skilled player who is heartless and has the basketball IQ of a streetball player.

While Swift is so frustrating to watch Chuck Hayes is a breath of fresh air. Hayes is exceptional at moving without the ball to find easy baskets, he provides great support defense, sets nice picks, and of course has a knack to grab rebounds. Hayes helps you win games, while Swift causes you to lose games. Swift should be gone by the trade deadline because he's not going to get on the court anymore with Hayes playing so well.

Mutombo has had a reduced role on the team as of late. If he's unable to play major mintues anymore, as his recent minute logs may suggest, I wouldn't mind seening Swift play backup C minutes in addition to backup PF. If you give him at least 20 minutes, he rarely ever doesn't put up a decent statline that at least looks good on paper.

I'm just afraid if we deal him we're going to get stuck with garbage 2nd-rounders instead of showcasing him, letting the league see he can produce when given time and try to milk a 1st-rounder out of somebody for him. As it stands now, he's a gifted player in the coach's doghouse that the team is likely secretly trying to move---in most cases that won't get you want in return for him.

if you look at the box score, Tmac and Yao scored almost half of the total points.Hayes gave you rebounding but can he give the scoring that we need. That's why we need Stro to play more eventhough he make mistakes but you can see the potential.Almost everyone in this forum wants him to be traded but who do you want to be our future power forward in terms of salary and availability?you want to trade swift for a guard then we will be having a gap in our PF.Do you think trading Swift for guard would help?If it does, does it mean we are contented with Hayes,Baxter and Howard.Do you think those three can handle the upper echelon team's PF?

New Jersey has two 1st-round picks this year. Their's (currently #19) and the Clippers pick (current #26).

If they are indeed still trying to acquire Swift we should try to get both of those picks out of them since they are both lower 1st-round picks, they aren't as valuable since both teams are currently doing quite well.

I don't know about the rest of you guys, but I think the Clippers will eventually fall back to Earth. If we can swindle both picks out of them then if/when the Clippers cool off like I think they will, it makes the set of draft picks that more valuable.

Then, after the season is over we can try to package both of those picks to move up in the draft to take an impact player like Rudy Gay.

Juwan had 4 pts. and 4 rbs in 33 minutes last night. Now we want to get rid of Swift. If Swift would have posted those #s he would have been crucified on this board. Also I don't think Swift has played more than 30 minutes for only a couple of games. I just don't think JVG is the right coach for Swift and for this team for that matter. If the rockets have to mover Swift then try and get a player for him.

I remember a couple of years ago how so many people here were jonesing for Marc Jackson (me included). Weird to be talking about him again or at least in the post quoted above.

I'd love to see Swift play with J Kidd...even though I hate VC and the Rockets are my team...I think Swift could find a better fit in NJ...maybe not
