Considering Chris Wilcox is a restricted FA and talks might be breaking down with Seattle,, Would you do the following trade .. Let's say .. Seattle signs Chris Wilcox to a 50 million / 5 year deal.. Seattle trades Chris Wilcox to Rockets for J.Howard + Trade exception and a 2007 or 2008 1st round pick... Wilcox is legit,, I would do it but,, but this would more than likely put the ROX over the luxury tax threshold. Seattkle could then team J. Howard and Nick Collinson at the PF spot
let me help you out... any trade, with any team, in any thread, involving the rockets booting juwan howard out of houston while receiving a player with a shorter and/or less expensive contract = TRADE ACCEPTED.
I don't know. If that trade were offered to me I would have to listen. Wilcox seems more like a journeymen power forward but he has shown flashes. I just have a hard time getting past how bad Seattle's inside game was this past year and Wilcox was on that team.
You can't combine the TE with another player's salary in order to match salaries for trading purposes. Also in this scenario Wilcox would be a base year compensation player which would make it harder to trade for him. Essentially we'd have to add yet more salary to the deal in order for it to work. Seattle is better off letting Wilcox walk than taking our trash.
Chris Wilcox? he's ok, but with a 50m / 5year contract? no way in hell. This guy is Stromile Swift with a bigger body, i don't think he worth more then 5m a season. he had 20 good games last season in Seatle... that's why he gets 50m contract?! Stupid Sonics.
Couldn't agree more. Wilcox is someone who has the talent to be another Big Ben (with a bit more offense); however, he has yet to put it all together. He's young, so I see him continuing to improve, but he's not worth any more than a MLE at this point.
Okay this is ridicoulos how can a guy start a thread and not know the rules for the last time Te's and players can not and never will be able to be combined with eachother!
I don't think thats a stretch at all. Give the guy a break, the rules are not all easily understood. There are guys on this board that have read the rules in depth and still have some problems with them.
5 years 50 million dollars is neither shorter nor less expensive than Juwan Howard. This guy is essentially advocating paying nearly twice as much than Stromile Swift makes for a very VERY similar player. He may even be as stupid as Stromile.
I agree with others that wilcox is another stromile swift. at the powerforward position, its almost mandatory that you need a person who is gonna work hard given the nature of the position. I used to be in favor of the Rockets getting wilcox in the yao draft by somehow trading back, picking up an established player or extra pick. but I'm glad that never happened.
My hunch is Wilcox decided to dial up the energy level after moving from the Clips to the Sonics because he was playing for a contract this summer. Who knows what's gonna happen after he gets his guaranteed $50MM.
I think a lot of people around here are enamored with Wilcox because he did a number on us in that last game of the season with Seattle....to the tune of 26 points and 24 rebounds. He killed a depleted Rockets squad, so we gotta have him. Like others have pointed out, Chris Wilcox was largely a Stromile clone before he got traded to Seattle, and then he suddenly stepped up his game in a contract year. Definitely not a risk worth taking, especially just after you've taken active steps to rid your roster of knuckleheads.
