Dont know if this threads been made, and I dont know how much you buy into these online rumors but heres what I know.

Detroit is seeking backcourt help, and with Webber on board that makes Nazr expendable and Bonzi is a guy theyve wanted all year long.

So would you pull the trigger on this or stand pat and hope Bonzi shapes up?

I dont like Nazr. He couldnt even stay in freakin Spurs. And then u gotta add that Detroit wants to get rid off him. He might have looked awsome in NYK but then he hasnt been any help for any contender team at all.

Dale Davis on the other hand + 2nd round pick i might consider.

Noway. bonzi is way to talented just to giveup for an overrated big like nazar. with bonzi's contract, were never gonna get equal value anyway. i'm willing to keep bonzi and hope he pays off big in the playoffs.

Nazr's batter than many give him credit for and to me is a nice backup at the 5.

As far as Dale Davis and his expiring contract. That would have to come with that late 1 not a 2.....Bonzi would be worth a lot for the Spurs and their shot this year. The only way I do this is if we are out of it do to major injuries again.

Neither one of these deals excites me and I believe him to be worth much more to us than anyone else. It's my belief that Bonzi will come around and be a force for the last 30% of the year and throughout the playoffs on our run to the title.

Still he is a great bargaining chip....Like many here,I've been dreaming about a defensive minded 4 who can board for some time now.

Bonzi for etan thomas would be a great trade. PJ brown might be old, but he can still get some boards and knock down he's jumpers when in the game. unless we get an etan thomas offer( highly unlikely) i say keep him and hope he pays off in the playoffs.

if some how we can swing a 3-way deal so we can get some PG help, or maybe a real scorer off the bench, then yes i'd to the trade.

i would to that trade if bonzi doesn't work out for us. but right now? no way. nazr mohammed is a backup center. why would we do this trade? ok, he might be usefull for the next 10-20 games yao is still out but after yao comes back bonzi has much more value for this team while mohammed would be basically useless.

we need an athletic power forward who can help backup the 4. mohammed just isn't the player the rockets should be looking for.

Bonzi + Novak for Ray Allen.

    Or,

Bonzi + Novak for R. Jefferson.

    Or,

    Bonzi + Novak for Mobley.

I believe this package can land us an all-star player.

I watched the Pistons vs Wolfs last night, Webber's performance was good enough and reminded me that Bonzi is really like a mini-Webber. From the limited time he played, he can shoot, pass, rebound and play defense. I know we will probably lose him but I don't mind that as long as he can keep improving his form into the playoffs, where each game counts. Trade him for Nazr is totally not worth it.

And none of those even remotely comes close to matching salaries.

    And, no it wont.

As for Mohammed, eh. He's allright as a backup center but he has too many years left on his deal for my liking. Plus, again, what else are you going to give up cause Nazr makes a lot more than Wells.

I guess if the Rockets REALLY felt like Nazr will be a great backup for Yao for the next 4-5 years and know Dke will not be back, fine.

Bonzi for allen is a pipe dream . Jefferson might work. and no thanks to the Mobley deal. Bonzi is better in very category except preemeter shooting.

I would consider it if Nazr's contract weren't so outrageous. No way do I want him signed long term. He doesn't want to be a backup so he wouldn't fit here behind Yao for very long.

If Nazr had an expiring contract this would be worth a look.

Hell no, we need Bonzi for offense and rebounds off the bench when we can't get anything going.

We already have Yao and Mutombo at the 5, that's more than enough.

We really need Bonzi, but the problem is that we have JVG as our coach.
In any other team Bonzi will be contributing.
Just look at Detroit. They get a new player and is on the field immediately.
Do you think Webber will be getting any minutes if he should have come to the Rockets?

No, Nasr was just quoted last week, asking for a trade, because he says "he's a starter, and doesn't want to be a backup." That would never work behind Yao.

Everyone is assuming Bonzi will sign somewhere else next year. But, I'd love to see him come into his own here. Perhaps he'd sign a deal with us for longer years, or something, if he believed this was a championship team he wanted to belong to.

If we do trade him, we don't need another old guy. If we're going to get something for Bonzi, let's get a building block for depth.

If we trade Bonzi for a big, how about living dangerously with San Antonio: Wells for PF-C Francisco Elson and the rights to Luis Scola. Scola is a very athletic, accomplished scoring PF who is dying to play in the NBA. Elson would give us a big PF and backup for Deke this year and for the day Mount Mutombo retires.

    Outgoing

Francisco Elson + Rights to Luis Scola
    7-0 C from California
    5.3 ppg, 5.1 rpg, 1.1 apg in 18.6 minutes
    Incoming

    Bonzi Wells
    6-5 SG from Ball State
    6.8 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 1.3 apg in 21.3 minutes
Change in team outlook: +1.5 ppg, -1.1 rpg, and +0.2 apg.

The thing about trading Bonzi is that you will NEVER get equal talent for him, even more so when he signed that peanuts 2.5mill/year contract with us.

When he's even halfway in shape, Bonzi is a mismatch every trip down the court, not just on the low block, but facing up inside the arc as well.

At 2.5 million a year, you're just not gonna get equal value and talent in return if you trade him.

So as much as his fat derriere is lazy and out of shape, we should hold on to him and let JVG teach him what's professionalism and discipline.

Whereas I agree with your observations, Bonzi is now a half-year rental. The chances of him being with the team next year are quite slim. Therefore, the question must be: Do we go for broke with an overweight Bonzi or do something to help us this year and down the road?
