We can upgrade more efficiently at PG and PF, rather than SG or SF, as we're already set with two recent acquisitions who Morey consider to be undervalued by other teams in Martin and Ariza.

Brand is garbage but Turner could be a future badass and we haven't had a 1-2 pick since Yao and Francis. We could do some real damage in the playoffs in a few years. Maybe we could find a sucker for Brand next year too.

 

I'll say this.

I dont know how good Turner is because I dont watch college ball. I have heard him compared to Brandon Roy though, but I don't know how accurate that is. If it were Roy on a rookie scale and Brand for three more years, I would definately do it.

If Morey scouts him and believes him to be special, I think he would take the deal. Brand isnt exactly a slouch either, the dude can ball.

Budinger, Hill, Turner and our 3 lottery picks would be a hell of a good core for a long long time. Martin, Lowry, and Brooks arent exactly old either.

The best part is you really dont have to give up much in terms of assets. Does Jeffries + Andersen get it done?

Thats two deep at just about every spot on the depth chart. Yea, Brand is a bad contract, but getting the number #2 in Morey's hands is frankly just scary.

No. While most of us expect Turner will become a good NBA player, he hasn't proven anything yet, and Brand is WAY too expensive.

 

You would be overpaying for a still capable back up 4/5 while having a rookie contract on a potential stud-and-a-half. Sure, give them McG oops, ok - give them a couple of nice players and the #14.
