Would you take Big Country/#4/33 for Wiz/Cato?

Just thinking about various out of the box possibilities...

But would you take Big Country and his long bloated contract to get rid of Wiz and Cato, if Memphis threw in their #4or 5 pick and their second round #33 pick?

Then we could package the #4/13/18 for a top 3 pick to obtain either Curry/Chandler/Brown, so we have a star center from this draft.

With the #33, we could grab Terrence Morris, who so many people on this BBS have been high on, who Francis might be able to motivate as he did in college.

We'd be stuck with Big Country's contract, but he could be a decent backup, we'd have our future star starting center, and another backup project SF.

Memphis will have to do something like this to get rid of BigCountry, or else package SAR or Bibby with him. They probably could get more value in a trade for one or both of them. Next year, they could unload Wiz and reduce their payroll. They might see Cato as being someone who is still ready to bust out with potential. If not, he's still tradeable to someone.

It wouldn't impact getting Webber and MoTay, if we somehow could get them, so then we could have:

    Curry/Collier/BigCountry
    Webber/Thomas/Bull
    Taylor/Langhi/Morris
    Mobely/?
    Francis/Norris

First thing to ask people who happen to be more knowledgable on this board is... how would Big Continent fit into an offense geared to attack zone-type defenses. Also, what's his contract like? How long does it run?

Van/Memphis would also need to erase the debt that Houston owes in a first round pick on the Francis trade and they could keep the #33.

Would that be enough to entice Houston?
    Maybe.....maybe not.

Of course I would (unless we got a top 3 with the luck of the draw on our own).

    Why?
A.) It would not hinder our ability to chase CWebb/cap space.
B.) Long term, Reeves is less than Cato.

Reeves might make an interesting center for us. He has the 12 foot shot that is a necessity for Rudy, and would take up space in a zone defense. Not to mention the "Cato" factor---the hope to utilize a player's talent, and return them to previous form. I'd even throw in #22 to the deal.

I'm not sure Memphis would do that, however, unless #13 were added, which makes it a tougher choice.

What the hell was Vancouver thinking?

I would do this trade because with three first round picks, possibly two in the top 10(I know I know 5 out of 1000) we could build a young, solid squad.

If they were sending us the #4 pick/Reeves/#33 pick for Cato/Walt, I'd have no problem throwing in the #13/#22 picks & maybe even the #18 pick for that deal. After all, the Rockets are concerned about having too many #1 picks anyway. We'd definitely be able to draft a starting SF with the #4 pick. Then, if we could convince Webber to come here, we'd have a pretty solid front line to go with our guards. hmmmm....

When can teams start making trades again?

Looking at the original proposal it comes down to:

Reeves & (insert pick - Brown, Griffin, Diop, Curry, or Chandler) for Cato, Walt & a 2nd rnd pick

IMHO, the Grizz don't do this deal. Reeves is a cash outflow, but new talent & winning puts fans in the seats. That greatly eases Reeves' cash liability.

Cato, Walt & #13 won't put fans in the seats in Vancouver or Memphis. Ever. Just because they got backed into a corner by the Francis deal doesn't make them our farm club.

    This is a stupid question...

    Yes! I would do it in a heartbeat... Cato/Walt=Big **** ...

And to think that we could get a #5 pick and #33 pick would be great...

I really don't think Memphis would trade the #5 pick... They need a marquee guy, or at least a name guy since they are moving in to Memphis...
