Was watching an episode of Law & Order called Shotgun.

Three guys go into an H&R type tax store to rob it. Two guys working in the store. Employee and owner. Robber A shows a gun and starts beating the employee with it. Old guy owner blasts all three robbers with a shotty.

ADA seems biased the whole episode and seems like he has an agenda to go after the old owner. Later in the episode, you learn that the old owner knew it really wasn't a robbery but more of a shake down to get him to sell his building.

ADA charges the old owner, but the owner is found not guilty.

I agree with the jury who found the owner not guilty. The owner might have known its a shakedown, but did not ask for three armed men to come into his office and start beating on his employee. How does he know that this couldn't escalate as one of the robbers is flashing a gun.

In fact, I don't even care if the robbers weren't flashing a gun. Somebody breaks into my store or house and threatens anyone they are getting shot.

I've argued with some of my friends before regarding this. What if a couple of teenagers break into your house. They are NOT flashing a gun, but your wife and kids are home.

You have the opportunity to shoot em. Do you or do you not? Some of my friends argue, they are just kids. I personally don't care if they are young or old, male or female, black or white. You come into my house and threaten my family, you are being buried in the backyard.

    Agree?

Only if I was afraid for the safety of myself and family. I wouldn't shoot them just because I could.

Oh, and I don't have a gun. So that might be a factor.

They have broken into your house. How is safety not a concern at this point?

Lets just say all homeowners have a gun for arguments sake.

Well if they are just kids breaking in without guns, I'm not sure how threatened I would feel

You never take any chances. You do exactly as this lady does. My favorite line from this phone call 'I got a big shotgun. I am not going in the bathroom.'

Reminds me of this from a few years ago. I worked with the wife of his kooky friend, Randy Laird.

as someone who has not only been robbed, but robbed at gunpoint in my own house i can honestly say that i would not hesitate to shoot someone who broke into my house - i dont care if i dont see a weapon and i dont care if its some 16 year old kid.

in 1998 my door was kicked in while i was sleeping and i woke up w/ some guy coming into my room pointing a pistol at me. his buddies stole everything of value out of my house while this guy basically held me hostage in my bed telling me the whole time that he was going to "waste me" and i heard his friends in the other rooms going "do it...waste him".

it still really, really bothers me that they got away with it - i will never be able to let that go. and austin detectives were totally useless - the best they could do was accuse me of setting it up in order to steal my roommates stuff.

i have no sympathy for thieves.

I think I need to start a family too; kind of running out of excuses for skipping holiday shifts, asking for pay raises or romanticizing aggressive behavior. Jesus Christ, alpha male.

One of the top YouTube comments for that video:

$10 says it was a neighbor she didn't like. That's why she didn't yell out to "get away I have a gun". She called him right before the cops and told him she was having chest pains. He ran over screaming and couldn't get it. He tried both doors before breaking in. This is in broad daylight and he's banging on the door. I honestly feel for this woman but sorry, I know tooooooo many women that would do exactly as I just described not to mention it. Even made it look like no on was home.

Who knows I guess... I would have probably screamed out a warning.

That lady doesn't sound like she was trying to set the guy up to be shot or whatever the comment is implying. She sounds honestly disgusted and horrified by the idea.

LOL...sounds pretty freakin stupid. You don't think the cops can pull the luds off of her phone? If she called him before calling the cops, the motive can be easily established.

Once the choice is made to break into my home, they know they are risking the choice of being shot, and yes, I would shoot them.

My Grandfather was shot in his garage when he exited his car by a robber on Kimberley lane in memorial plaza.

I don't own a gun, but if I had one. I wouldn't hesitate to shoot.

Wow, it got kind of somber in here pretty quickly. Here's something to lighten up the mood.

i would shoot as to not take any chances of them attacking me weather they are armed or not.

also, you don't have to shoot to kill. hopefully if you have a license for a gun you've taken some lessons and are skillful enough to differentiate between a kill shot and a wounding shot (or whatever you call the later).

    2. they aren't contributing to society positively anyways. the less the better.
