Deke - yes. We don't have any other big guys Barry - most likely, unless we can get a great power forward and have to give up him. I mean seriously, we have a lot of spot up shooters on the team already
Would I? yes. Would I if I had to give them more than one year contracts? I'm not sure. They're getting old enough I'd be afraid to gaurantee them for more than that. Two year deals, tops.
Yes. I hope we can have them for cheap. I doubt they can find spots on other teams as nice as ones here.
Sign both for sure; one year contracts if possible. Deke's demands may be too pricey and lengthy. JB will likely come very cheap so he will probably be back.
Deke- Yes.......but you may need another guy if Yao continues his issues with foul trouble. Ideally, you want him spelling Yao 10-12 minutes a game. Barry--No......get a another swingman to start and complement McGrady, and wesley can take Barry's spot on the bench. Wesley should be coming off the bench as this stage of his career.
Deke - yes. 2 year $12 million dollar a year deal w/ a team option on the second. JBarry - Yes, but only a 1 year deal. This way we keep our cap flexability. After next season.
Hell yea I would sign both. Both are inspiring players to have on this team. They would be mentors to the young guys we pick up from FA and the draft.
Yes, please CD. Jon is so cheap. You can't expect more from a guy being paid so low. I hope Deke, Jon and David can get champion with us next year and then they can retire.
Barry should be cheap. I don't think that he's getting more than vet minimum. However, if we resign him, his role will be reduced somewhat. It's obvious that we need more athleticism on the perimeter. Deke must be resigned. Yao is still inconsistent, and we need to have a capable backup center.
no doubt about it. barry's shot is solid and he knows how to pass the ball. mutumbo at 50 starts for at least 10 teams...
i think barry will take a one-year deal from us. he expressed interest in retirement when he was sitting with atlanta and playing here rejuvenated him. i don't see him going somewhere else now. i think deke will do the same though i can see a few more potential suitors for him, none would know how to use him as well the rockets though. i think they will be back. honestly i think t-mac needs that kind of energy and enthusiasm around him as well.
Are you nuts? Deke could probably be had for the vet minimum! No more than 2 mil or so a year. He plays 12 minutes a game or so!!!! 12 million dollars is HUGE money. On a six year deal, that'd be 72 million dollars. Obviously, nobody would throw a six year deal at Deke, but the reason I bring this up is to point out you're giving him more money per year than Boozer got when he signed for 68 million. I want to see Deke in a Rockets jersey again, but I can't imagine giving him more than 3 million a year - and that's the absolute maximum I'd consider. I really see no reason he should get more than the vet minimum at this point in his career, regardless of how good he's been in his 12 minutes a game or so.
absolutely bring them both back, they were the anchor for the second squad, it would be a tremendous hit if we cant sign both of them.
keep deke, barry too BUT only if we dont need to trade him or something. give up barry in a trade but not deke, keep him. get rid of everyone else though. if sura keeps needing surgery i say let him go too, sure he has heart and plays with enery and intensity but if hes only playing half the season at 60% why keep him. keep yao and tmac and mike. everyone else can go.
You forget the Team option and that his agent is David Falk. He's gonna want a three year deal gauranteed. Trust me I think Deke is worth a bit more than sura. But if you want him 2 agree to a 1 year deal (so as to keep our cap flexability in 2006) your gonna have to offer him a front loaded contract. So a 6 mill 3 year deal becomes a 2 year $12 mill year deal with a team option on the second. We dont pick up the second year and sign him for the vet after we've spent our under the cap money.
