Assuming Morey can't do both. I lean toward Mirotic and Bogut. My rational is this there is no gurantee Lebron would come here in free agency this summer even with Chris Paul. I see a very good power forward in Mirotic who is 26 years old and can shoot and keep the paint open for Clint. At this point your young nucleus becomes James, Mirotic, and Clint for maybe 4 to 6 years (barring injury). Sure CP3 is still part of that to as long as he can stay healthy and at a reasonable price. With all these shooters and offensive weapons the game would be come easier for CP3 as he gets older. Also I think CP3 stays as long as he has a chance to contend.

With Lebron being in his 30s along with CP3 I wouldn't want to be paying to many vets top dollar. I'm not interested in seeing older stars get injured and turn old over night, watching them lose a step and be a shell of there former self. With a Lebron, CP3, Harden nucleus you have a 2 to 3 year window(barring injury).

    What say you?

The first option because.... I don’t think you have looked at the salary structure for NM. He has a team option next year.. we can easily decline, or better yet pick it up and trade him for the incoming pieces. AB would just expire.

But a move that would jeopardize the potential of LB23 coming here, that will not happen in a million years. The Rockets have the best chance to land LB23 if he leaves, rockets know that, the nba world knows that, basically everyone does.

I honestly think Bogut's washed up .... and wouldn't be of any help other than a couple cheap shots on D.Green and Curry ...

Not sure Miritoc is enough of an upgrade to change anything , or even if he's an upgrade at all , He seems like a guy who puts up good numbers on bad teams that doesn't translate to wins. His contract is very favorable tho .... and if we were to jettison Anderson in the process I'd be open to a deal depending on what else I had to give up.

As for option two - What are the odds that Lebron comes here ?! I'd have to say slim and none ..... and slim just left the building. (Tho I'd like to be wrong about this).

We need a trip to WCF, and to stretch it out to atleast a 6 game series with GSW in order for Lebron to want to come here, and for CP to say he wants to stay.

This team can win it all right now . . . so you try to win it all right now. Paul isn't getting any younger and you don't know he and Bron might leave and play elsewhere.

I would only wait for Lebron if I had talked to Paul and he was genuinely interested in doing this (which would give you a high chance of it happening).

Mirotic would be so good. Keep Anderson as a backup or still use Anderson behind Capela. I think we could dump Anderson next year to a team who wants a salary dump.

Mirotic could be the answer to Draymond Green. The white answer. Sorry . . . I didn't mean to bring race into it.

I think Chris Paul has the answers. Just ask if Paul would prefer this trade/stay with the team if we had Mirotic and not Bron. If so then pull the trigger.

The funny thing is that if you trade Anderson for Mirotic you also gain better flexibility.

Anyway, i admit i'm not exactly a fan of Mirotic, and while i do think he's better than Anderson, i don't really think he would make us that much better to beat the Warriors in seven games, but that's just me. Mirotic made some great games/numbers this season, but the enviroment is pathetic, it's way easier to make up good numbers in similar situations, especially cause opponents just doesn't play seriously against your team, in the past years he was a big let down in Chicago when they were actually try to win, even though it's also fair to say that the Bulls had awful built teams lately. Ryan is a similar situation (slightly better tbf since the Pelicans never tanked) was a 17/18 and 6/7 player.

With that said, if you can trade Ryan and a 1st for Mirotic, as today, i think you do it with no esitation but eh, it's not happening, maybe with two 1st rounders.

Its also easier to get numbers when you have two of the best passers in the NBA on your team, so i your point goes both ways.
There is no way however it would only take ryno and a 1st IMO. Hes still on the books for 2 years after this, thats just not gonna fly with any team.
I would hope morey does something because IMO its pretty obvious Capela is leaving in the summer, we cant pay him 20-24 mill per. I dont see why we shouldnt use him to get rid of Ryno while still getting a decent package back because capela is a perfect trade asset, so is EG.

Tbf he did play with Rondo and Butler which are pretty good passers, and for most of the season he just got outplayed by Gibson and Portis but like i said, the enviroment wasn't exactly the best these last two years in Chicago so, who knows...i do agree though, that in the end a single 1st rounder wouldn't get it done, one 1st is probably what Chicago is asking to trade him, at least another 1st would've to be traded to dump Ryan so...Mirotic contract btw is pretty good with that team option, and would actually be perfect for us since i guess Paul and Lebron are in touch and we will know before the deadline for that option if Lebron is coming or not (same for DeAndre) so, that would give us great flexibility.

Bogut sucks. He is old and brittle and not very good anymore. He does not fit this system and does not want to be here.

Mirotic has been balling. I would love to have him. Buttttttt..... it would take at least a 1st. And we don’t have one to trade until 2020. So why hamper our flexibility sooo much?

If you wait until after the draft, and before free agency, you can then trade your 2019 1st and then your 2021 1st.

Why blow your entire wad now on a player who’s been hot but is not much more than a Ryan Anderson type role player.

I would rather risk it all this off season when we try for our final “All-in” move before we start paying the luxury tax starting next season.

The Rockets cannot trade for Mirotic this deadline unless you want to include pieces like Gordon.
Further, Mirotic is mentally weak and one of the most selfish and disliked players in the league.
    It isn't happening.....

As far as going after James or another elite free agent, the Rockets will use Paul and Harden and attempt to get a commitment.
If the Rockets get a commitment you can expect Gordon to be dealt, Anderson to be dealt or stretched (likely dealt), Ariza very likely not coming back and Paul taking less money than he would otherwise get.

We have ariza's birds rights. We can do the low-high with him and he will probably cooperate with that. He's not going to get big money in free agency elsewhere.

I was wondering yesterday, is it possible to renounce to Trevor next summer so we clear his cap holds and resign him after the other moves with non bird rights to a similar or slightly higher salary of his current one? Or non bird are only available if the player is on the team by one season?

Mirotic is not as good as y'all are making him out to be. Streaky shooter. Mild upgrade over Anderson overall.

The better way is to use guys birds rights to give him a low one-year deal followed by a substantially higher one to three year deal.

Since when does signing Andrew Bogut make a team an automatic contender?

I'm guessing it was sometime AFTER he did absolutely nothing for the Mavs, Cavs and Lakers.

Bogut would be depth as the center position. Don't think you can count on Nene health wise. Tarik Black is not playoff proven. I would prefer.
Bogut at the third center spot behind Clint. You need Championship experience. Drop Zhou Qi down to the G-League to open up the spot.
