Would you rather have a 20/15 Dwight or 15/20 Dwight?

As much as everyone here keeps talking about trying to improve DH12's offensive set, I am really enjoying someone dominating the boards the way he has so far. What say you?

If we have Asik, then Howard's rebounding is not as important. If Asik is traded, then I'd rather him rebound more because we do have other scoring options.

I am going with the latter. 5 more rbs means 10 potential points taken away for your opponent plus that fuels our fast phased offense.

If everyone is shooting well that 15/20 probably looks better....the good thing is that he seems like he can do both at a very high level again.

Take the rebounds. It's how you win close games. Get stops, get the rebound, trigger the fast break --> Rockets' style.

More possession leads to more points so rebounds are more valuable.

Definitely the 15/20. We have a good shot to be the best rebounding team in the league.

Either one is better than a 10/12 Omer Asik, so whatever.

I'm vaguely remembering a sloan analytics paper about rebounding... I think the gist of it was that you wind up getting most of the defensive rebounds anyway, just with other players.

Of course, it gives the other players the opportunity to head up the court early if they don't have to be there to rebound, so there is still value to it. Just not quite as much as you would expect.

A quick google search doesn't lead me to the paper, though.

This isn't really true, you can never have enough rebounding because rebs unlike scoring is obtained either by you or the opponent. So the more rebs you get the less rebs your opponents get and the greater your chance of winning the game. This is different from scoring where your ability to score doesn't impact your opponents ability to score to a large degree.

As far as rebs or pts go, rebs are way more valuable than pts because 1 reb is basically a new possession, so you can have 2 or 3 pts per reb.

Averaging twenty rebounds is pretty far-fetched, especially with other good rebounders on the team. I'd say 20-15.

15/20, because a good chunk of those 20 will likely be offensive boards, and we were lacking in those last year.

It don't matter to me 20/15 or 15/20 I just want him to have a BIG IMPACT on the game like he did tonight!
