Sorry you can't; he's not running on the ballot in NC this fall.

Naturally he has plenty of "presidential" television ads and even scads of street signs just with his name on them all around the state... because he has to spend his money.

Nevertheless, he is in violation of state law and state employees are having to go around the state and removi his signs.

Let's hear a round of applause for those crazy campaign and election laws...

    giddyup,

please elaborate. I can't remember which way you lean, but I don't recall it being left. From afar, I have sort of liked Edwards, and I've been hoping he does run for pres. since I'm not a big Gore fan.

Okay, so pardon me if I'm slow here (I'm a liberal ;) ), but if I understand you he's using N.Carolina matching money for state elections and using it vaguely for his pre-launch presidential campaign?

He hasn't announced anything officially has he?

There was an interesting story the other night about a tight race in Indiana and how corporations and others are pouring millions into the race because this is the last "soft money" election. They made the point to say that any election around the country that is relatively close has seen a dramatic increase in the number of TV ads and campaign expenditures because they have become dumping grounds for companies who want to get as much influence through the last remants of soft money contributions as possible.

The result is a tremendous number of negative ads. Hell, in Texas we have ads from Perry, Sanchez, Cornyn, Kirk, Sharp, Dewhearst...and on and on. As a result, I basically like none of them. They all seem crappy to me because all I ever hear is how crappy they are.

    Pretty sad.

I don't exactly know the source of his money, but he is running ads and he is not up for election. The ads are characterized as an attempt to look "presidential."

The other story I heard was that state workers were going around taking down his "election" signs because he is not a legitimate candidate in the November election. He is up for no office in November, but he has blended himself into the mix to increase his name recognition I would assume.

I have no doubt he will seek the nomination. He is an exciting candidate-- if you can stomach wealthy trial lawyers. They are so tightly bonded with Joe Lunchbucket!

I'm somewhere between Jesse Helms and John Edwards. I didn't vote for Liddy Dole in the Republican primary. I voted for the guy who finished a distant second-- a true North Carolinian.
