I could afford the shipping on that ball and that's about it...

The ball looks kind of dirty for being hit just one time.

Richard Gere used to own it but thought it was a gerbil. I'd wear gloves.

this is what happens when you're rich and bored. you pay an absurd amount of money for a ball someone touched with a bat that was touched by a hand that was used to scratch a crotch.

I can't believe this actually sold for that much money. Isn't it already worthless now that he's going to pass the Babe for sure?

At least he didn't pay $3+ million like that moron McFarlane only to have the record broken so quickly. Talk about a bad investment.

I personally don't think 700 is that signficant to the general public. So it's value will be much lower than the value the bidder gave to it. On the other hand, the Final Home run ball will certainly have some significance and public value. That record could hold for a while. That ball is worth owning if A-Rod starts to slow down a little.

The HOF may never see a significant artifact again until 100-200 years later when someone finally believes it belongs there.

Yeah, but no one knew for sure that McGwire's record would be broken so quickly!!!

Everyone already knows Bonds will pass Ruth and probably Aaron.

This makes no sense, investment-wise, even NOW!

    McFarlane's did... at the time.

I love collectible a lot but not that much. I mean if i had enormous amounts of money who cares right. i spend enough money buying stuff right now to get things i like but at the same time i don't mind getting autographs myself...at least that way i can meet the player then have him sign it.

Catching a ball like that is pretty sweet too especially a ball that means that much. But at the same time i think the amount of money is just relative to how much you got...to someone with millions...doesn't seem that much to them.
