i heard they want to trade up into the top 6....maybe they'll settle for 8..... i'd do it... would u?
I think you'd be hard-pressed to find someone that didn't want to do this. Getting two mid-rounders to fill role positions would be a lot more valuable than one mid-lottery pick. But the Hornets will only do this deal if someone they really want falls to our pick.
I changed the thread title to be New Orleans... not Charlotte. We need a lot of help, so yeah I would. It would take at least the 8 and 32 I would think, even if the Hornets would do that. You never know though... New Orleans says, in their opinion, the draft is 6-deep for the upper echelon (nice win in Denver, JVG). It's all about falling -- someone may fall, or they may fall in love with someone who sees a universal stock rise (Shelden Williams?). At 12 and 15, the Rockets could get two players that wouldn't be that far off from the caliber they're looking at right now at #8.
I'd kind of want to keep a 2nd rounder. It probably wouldn't be a dealbreaker, but I'd want to take a flyer on a guy, because you never know what 2nd rounder will work their way into being the next Mobley, Arenas, or Redd. Maybe swap 2nd rounders instead. 8+32 for 12+15+39. Still, we'd need someone they want to fall to us. I'm hoping that it'll be Thomas.
It's not just New Orleans, everyone has known that the draft is 6 deep after Noah said he will not be declaring. I don't buy all the Marcus Williams hype either -- he isn't close to what Felton, Paul or Deron Williams were in college. So really, it depends how Ager and Brewer do in Orlando. If we are going to trade down, at the very least we need to be assured of getting one of them.
Are these deals before the draft? Or can a team wait to see who's available before they pull the trigger? Eg. If Roy somehow drops can we pull out of the deal? I've never been sure of this...
Hassan Adams Steve Novak James White Guillermo Diaz Kyle Lowry (he'll probably go back to Nova, too good to be drafted in the 2nd) Paul Millsap Quite a few very good 2nd round prospects.
You never know what a team will do ... they may get a better offer for those picks... it may be crazy, it may not be. The Rockets dealt the 13, 18 and 23 for the 7 in 2001, and everyone here was ecstatic at the time because it didn't look like this team could add 3 guaranteed contracts. 12 and 15 is pricey for the 8 ... probably 8 and 32 as well. It all depends on team needs... if New Orleans is ecstatic about adding two guaranteed contracts at the talent level they are picking at, then of course it isn't happening. If they're dying to move up to an upgrade in talent to get that certain someone, get a guaranteed contract off the books AND get one of the best non-guaranteed contract picks there is, then it isn't that far off in my personal opinion. On an unrelated note... what about New Jersey? They hold the 22 and 23 I believe -- both guaranteed contracts. I wonder if a #32+change package for the #23 is do-able.
That can definitely happen, where a deal is contingent on a player being at a spot. We tried moving up on draft day, when Gerald Green started to slip, but nobody wanted to deal with us because they figured they could get who they wanted instead of trading down and settling.
Ah ok...i'd do the trade, i'd like Ronnie Brewer but i don't see him dropping. I'm thinkin' S.Williams at #12 to back up Yao and play PF, and Carney at #15 to start at SG. I like the idea of the shooting PF, but the only one i can think of that can also rebound which is still pretty important for a PF, Tim Thomas lovers! Is Troy Murphy, but he's out of our range...either way we are adding talent in this draft and its a good step forward to adding depth to our team.
Sorry i meant to say Roy instead of Brewer. Any chance Brewer slides down to 12? A good player drops every year...
If NJ is still salivating for Swift and a player like Marcus Vinnicus is still available at #23 that could be a deal that could work for both teams. Swift and our 2nd rd pick for their 23rd and a matching contract.
I'd be willing to send Swift for Darko to sweeten the deal. He was starting to come around near the end of the season. We could have the twin towers again. Kinda lost the catchieness after 9-11. Just not parting with 32.
I'd absolutely do it. I'd hope we could pick any two of the following: Ronnie Brewer Rodney Carney Maurice Ager Shelden Williams Cedric Simmons Patrick O'Bryant Rajon Rondo and what the hell - if we had two picks I could gamble on Redick. I still think he'll never be much more than a productive bench player, but it sure would be fun if I was wrong and he becomes a Rex Chapman or Jeff Hornacek.
Nick Fazekas - 6'11" PF, Nevada 21.8 ppg / 10.4 rpg / 2.1 apg / 1.1 spg / 1.5 bpg .529 FG % .290 3pt % (.358, .327 in other two seasons) .846 FT % Obviously his 3pt % could be a little higher (.380 or so would be great), but the guy can shoot the hell out of the ball for a guy that gives you 10.4 rpg and 1.5 bpg. Even if he doesn't have great NBA 3pt range, he can definitely stretch the defense far enough out to spread the floor, and that's all we're really asking for, right? I'd love to give this get this guy if we keep our #32 pick. Either him or Novak, whichever is available. That said, I'd be perfectly fine giving Tim Thomas our MLE if we can fill our backcourt holes through the draft. If we could get him for a little less than the MLE, maybe we could throw like 1.5 mil at either Qyntel Woods, Trevor Ariza, or Rasual Butler. I would be freaking stoked if we pulled that off.
